Information about Entrepreneur
Dang Huynh Uc My is Vice Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Thanh Thanh Cong - Bien Hoa JSC (HOSE: SBT). With a background in business finance, she took a role with TTC Group, a family business that started as an ethanol production facility back in 1979. Since then, it has expanded across energy, real estate, agriculture, and hospitality industries in both Vietnam and Indochina. When she was asked to choose which area of the business she wanted to work in, Uc My picked SBT because, as she puts it, of her “huge passion in bringing Vietnamese agriculture to the whole world”.

With her contribution, the company expanded into sugar production in 2010 with the acquisition of a majority holding in Société De Bourbon Tay Ninh (SBT), the owner of a massive sugarcane plantation and an advanced processing plant. Since then, SBT has continued to acquire more large and modern mills and currently owns nine mills across three Indochinese countries, holds approximately 48% of the whole Vietnamese market, and exports sugar products to over 24 countries, becoming the biggest sugar supplier for the entire nation with a total sales volume of more than 1 million tonnes per year.

Other Interesting Facts about Entrepreneur
With over 15 years of experience in the fields of finance and sugar industries, Uc My has skillfully applied her strengths, expertise, and determination to bring SBT to a solid transformation - a pioneer in the digital transformation race. She used to be the Standing Deputy General Director of Thanh Thanh Cong - Bien Hoa JSC when she was only 25 and became the youngest female CEO in the TTC Group at 28. She was named “The next generation of women entrepreneurs” by Forbes Vietnam in 2015. In 2017, she was honoured in the category of Woman Leadership Award at The Best CSR Practices Awards 2017.

Company Achievements & Role as Entrepreneur
Uc My has assisted SBT in taking incremental yet decisive steps towards digital transformation, propelling SBT to a leadership position in Vietnam's smart agricultural development and empowering SBT to become the world's largest supplier of sugar for human consumption. This achievement is in the virtue of her adaptability, determination, and expertise as well as the sustainability philosophy that pervades her actions.

She led SBT to become the first agricultural company to utilise digital technology in business operation management via the successful roll-out of ERP Oracle Fusion Cloud, as part of the Digital Transformation Project, on 1st July 2021. The project has assisted SBT in streamlining the operation process of 22 facilities located in four countries: Vietnam, Singapore, Laos, and Cambodia. This project aims to leverage the technology adoption to elevate the company’s value of Agribusiness in domestic and international markets.

Besides that, she also paves the way for TTC Bien Hoa to enter the global commodity market. Based on her efforts, the revenue from financial activities reached VND 346 billion, up 5 times over the same period, most of which came from a “Trading house”, in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2021-2022. In particular, Uc My developed important strategies in coordinating activities, expanding export product portfolio, especially high value-added product lines, such as organic sugar, sugar liquid, rock sugar, among others. In addition, she also promoted the search for new export markets while enhancing the company’s participation in trading activities in the commodity market, thereby transforming SBT into a global business.

One of the highlights in the previous fiscal years was the transition from business to business (B2B) - sugar manufacturer - to business to consumer (B2C), a company that offers fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) products to customers with a developed distribution network and target market share of more than 50% by 2025. She built a human resource management strategy for the 2021-2025 period with a particular emphasis on digitalisation, knowledge-based agriculture, and new products.

Vision, Mission, & Future Plans
Uc My shared that, in the coming fiscal year, the company aims to place further emphasis on the implementation of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) governance framework in all activities of the company, which brings it one step closer to becoming "Indochina's leading solution provider of traceable and sustainable agricultural solutions" - a company that could weather any storm and contribute to a sustainable food system. In particular, governance activities shall shift the focus on specialised sustainability, striving for "green" financial indicators, establishing a synchronised and consistent operating system, thereby enhancing the transparency and accuracy in an information disclosure to stakeholders.

The company will continue to promote the development of raw material areas with a focus on accompanying farmers, develop material areas in Laos that can aim to produce 100,000 tons of organic sugar per year. The current organic sugarcane area is more than 6,000 hectares, aiming for 14,000 hectares in the crop years of 2025-2026. The business of organic products will not only stop at ordinary sugar products but also delve into value-added products that are good for health and aim to do well in terms of agriculture to bring out organic products that meet the standards on the world market.
