Nguyen Ho Nam—the Chairman of Bamboo Capital Group—graduated with a Master of Business (Banking and Finance) from Monash University, Australia. During this time, Nam also worked as the Project Director for Unilever Australia. Upon the completion of his Master’s degree, he returned to Vietnam and set up Sacombank Securities, known as one of the fastest-growing securities brokerage firms in Vietnam.

Established in 2011, BCG focused on two business segments: Investment banking services and IT solutions with project management advisory. In 2015, Bamboo Capital was officially listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange with a charter capital of VND 43 billion (equivalent to USD 1.8 million).
After a decade, BCG has grown to become one of the leading conglomerates in Vietnam with more than 30 subsidiaries, affiliates and more than 2000 employees, operating in many provinces across the country. According to the published Quarter 2 (Q2) 2021 Financial Statements of Bamboo Capital Group, the company's revenue reached VND 814 billion—an increase of 56.0% year-over-year (YoY) and, at the same time, the profit after tax reached VND 315.6 billion—an increase of 1,583.0% YoY. As of June 30, 2021, BCG's total assets reached VND 35,796 billion—an increase of 48.3% compared to the beginning of the year. BCG then became one of the companies with total assets of more than USD 1 billion. BCG's market capitalisation is currently more than VND 5,000 billion (equivalent to USD 250 million).
