Apollo Education & Training Organization Vietnam

Company Introduction
Established in 1995, Apollo is the first 100% foreign-owned education and training organisation licensed in Vietnam. Apollo is an affiliate of International House – a globally trusted name in English training — and has nearly 50 international-standard centres throughout the country. Apollo English have successfully trained over 1.5 million students and offers a wide range of educational programmes and services for children aged between 3 to 16 years and adult learners and corporations.

Apollo’s mission is to create global citizens and to foster prosperity. This translates into the company’s actions and vision at every level. Apollo's methodology, products and learning experience work together to produce confident and fluent English communicators. Apollo’s values of passion, accountability and integrity inspire and drive the business.

Corporate Culture
Apollo recognises that every member of the team plays a vital role in positively impacting customer experience. Every member of the staff makes an impact on customer experience, and the business is determined by the team. Apollo’s values are clear and personified at all levels of the organisation.

Every year Apollo hosts a team building trip for all staff to build bridges across departments and cultures. Apollo also holds town hall meetings which serve as an open forum for all staff to engage with the businesses results and future plans. Apollo also encourages honest feedback from its staff to improve on its practices. In addition to top-level activities, teams at individual centres get together quarterly to celebrate collective successes.

Giving back to the community is one of Apollo’s core beliefs. Apollo donated 30,000 books to schools in Vietnam as part of the back to school campaign in 2019. Apollo also ran a Save the Bears campaign in conjunction with Four Paws, to raise awareness and funds for the treatment of bile bears. Apollo was awarded AmCham CSR award in 2017 and 2018.

Achievements and Impact
Apollo has 47 learning centres in Vietnam and 1240 employees with 60% of staff being Vietnamese nationals and 40% expatriates. Apollo is committed to talent development with 80% of its managers being promoted internally. High potential staff are given opportunities to grow and take on new challenges. Apollo also holds regular leadership training for senior managers with the aim of building and moulding a high performing and cohesive executive team.

The Learning Experience team undergoes continuous professional development and training. Teachers are formally observed once a quarter, given comprehensive feedback on their performance and set action points to work on. In addition, there are academic workshops led by experienced Learning Experience Managers each month. All of Apollo’s customer experience team must complete a formal training which includes a one-week centralised training by Apollo’s experienced Learning Development Managers, regular skills updates and daily micro learnings.

Future Direction
Apollo is looking to the future for new expansion and ways to reach more students. Apollo has opened new centres in locations outside the main cities and will continue to grow its market share to benefit more Vietnamese students. One way to do this is to expand its online learning models and embrace technology and digital literacy in its future programmes. The Apollo Innovation Centre in Ho Chi Minh City and Apollo 360 programme offers a blend of learning approaches that utilise the convenience and advantages of online study as well as a face to face model. Apollo reached all of its students during the COVID-19 lockdown through a variety of online learning solutions, apps and content and will be focusing on rolling out a new learning course in quarter 3, 2020. Apollo is also exploring CSR options to better the community to disadvantaged groups in Vietnam.
