“From Good to Great” by James C. Collins is one of Quang Ly’s favourite books. The title itself is also his motto for living. The urge to study, seek new ideas and take care of his family members are constantly on his mind. Quang believes that only by spending his time to take good care of other people around him, can he build a firm and sustainable fortune.
Growing up in a family with business mindsets, Quang is determined to be an entrepreneur. He began his first startup when he was studying in the US. His first company, founded in 2006, is a computer device trading company. With four of his college friends, his business grew from just a humble garage setting. He left the business to his friends after his graduation.
His academic background and success in his startup caught the attention of the Board of Directors of GreenFeed. They saw the potential in him and invited him to sit on the Board. However, Quang rejected the offer and instead chose to start at a lower level, learning how workers seal bags and count pallets.
GreenFeed is the fastest growing feed miller in ASEAN, with plants across Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar. GreenFeed is founded in 2003 and is currently in the Top 100 Global & Top 4 biggest feed companies in Vietnam. The group of factories produce and supply hogs, poultry and aqua feeds. GreenFeed Vietnam Corporation consists of 10 feed mills, with a total capacity of over 2
million tons per year.
During his time at GreenFeed, Quang noticed the need for automation in the administration. He put up the idea of initialising SAP software solutions for all GreenFeed company members. Effectively implemented SAP ERP systems will bring many cost benefits to GreenFeed - reducing the level of inventory through improved planning and control, improving production efficiency by minimising shortages and interruptions and reducing materials cost through improved procurement and payment protocols. Labour costs will also be reduced through the better allocation of staff and reducing the need to work overtime and sales revenue will increase
through better managed customer relations.

“As the fastest growing feed miller in ASEAN, GreenFeed prides itself in covering 10 percent market share in Vietnam and Cambodia. Not satisfied with this, Quang brought the GreenFeed team to Cuba and Myanmar. During his visits to Cuba and Myanmar, Quang played an important role as a pioneer in the industry and strengthening cooperation between the Governments and Vietnamese officials.”
Quang also saw the need to complete the Feed-Farm-Food cycle as a way of providing safe and clean products to customers by controlling the source of the meat, how the cattle were raised and where they were slaughtered. The Feed-Farm-Food project was successfully implemented this year. Feddy, the meat distribution company, set up its website in 2017 and launched its mobile application, bringing convenience to customers. Quang’s knowledge of eCommerce helped speed up the launch of Feddy.

Quang also takes good care of his staff and their family members. At GreenFeed, employees are welcome to bring ideas directly to their managers, consistent with the company’s policy of “GreenFeed, gets rich together”. Every year, GreenFeed offers scholarships to farmers’ children and staff’s family under the “Helping the farmers to keep their children to go to school” project.
Quang is also keen on investing in potential start-ups and ideas. In 2017, he founded 9Stays, a travel company with an innovative interface that allows travel bloggers from professional to amateur levels to contribute reviews and insights of homestays, hostels and hotels around the world. 9Stays partners homestay hosts to provide facilities such as 3G sim cards, maps and brochures to travellers. Cityboiz Tea & Coffee Chain, founded in 2016, is a young and vibrant coffee shop chain that provides healthy drinks and affordable coffee for youths in Ho Chi Minh City.
