Being an entrepreneur is hard. Being a successful entrepreneur in a foreign and developing country, in a heavily regulated and complex sector such as healthcare is even harder, if not bordering crazy. That’s the kind of challenge that Mr. Attila Vajda likes to take on. In just over 3 years of operations under his leadership as CEO, CarePlus International Clinics became one of the trusted healthcare brands for individuals and corporations in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Attila Vajda is from Transylvania, was raised in a small town in a blue collar family and obtained his bachelor in Economics at the University of Oradea. During his student years he joined AIESEC, the world’s largest youth and leadership development organisation. His management and leaderships skills have been greatly developed during these formative years while he was rising in the ranks to become part of AIESEC’s global leadership team, overseeing the development of over 100 countries.

His Asian experience started in Singapore, where he worked 3 years in various regional roles, before joining ACB Securities in Vietnam, after he fall in love with the country as a tourist. Here he built an award-winning Institutional Sales & Trading team that became one of the top market players in Vietnam. He was instrumental in enabling Vietnamese market access for leading global investment banks and investment funds, as well as helping them navigate through the volatile recovery period that followed the Global Financial Crisis. Having sufficient business and investment experience, in 2014 he decided to work with a few selected partners on a few selected projects, in a more entrepreneurial role. Out of these projects CarePlus has been founded, and shortly transformed the healthcare landscape in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Attila believes that as an entrepreneur you will face a battle each and every day. Some battles you will lose, some you will win. But as long as you don’t give up and your ‘winning days’ outnumber your ‘losing days’, you will sooner or later succeed in your endeavour! Thus, entrepreneurial and business success is as much about resilience and determination, if not more, as it is about having a great vision or being an inspirational leader. While a visionary, resilient entrepreneur may be the “soul” of a business, cashflow is the “blood” of a business, and one should always keep an eye on it, just like one keeps its own blood pressure in check. Mr. Attila always emphasizes that offering great value to customers, building strong internal systems and an outstanding culture to do the things right, will ensure sustainable cashflows and growth.

Also, he shares that ethics and values are the “connecting tissue” between a business and its customers, employees and the community. If you want to be successful in long term, you can never compromise in doing the right thing.
