He completed his BSEE Degree at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo and MSEE at Santa Clara University, California. Dung started his career with Hewlett Packard, and held key executive positions in various high-tech companies in Silicon Valley, California (HP, Cisco), prior to returning to his motherland as an expat executive. Currently, he serves as a Managing Director – VP, Board of Directors Member at Spartronics. Dung continues to identify and develop Managers and Leaders. He motivates, empowers, and leverages on his team’s strengths and management skills to build a corporate environment which is results-driven, commitment to ontime delivery, and producing high quality products and services to ensure customer’s satisfaction. His effective management mind-set and strategy have greatly improved the company’s business and people multidimensional growth.

Since the beginning, Dung established the company’s culture around five pillars, namely Courtesy, Innovation, Transparency, Social Responsibility, and Embracing Change. Furthermore, he fostered Spartronic’s operating excellence with ten operating principles, namely start with the customer and end with the customer; trust and integrity; respect and care for each other; teamwork and collaboration; closed loop communication; metrics – what is worth doing is worth measuring; healthy conflict; be a solution provider; get results – take ownership and be accountable; and always do the right thing and have fun. Dung strives to ensure the company’s culture and operating principles become the DNA of how his employees run the business.

Under Dung’s leadership, Spartronics doubled their revenues in all business segments since 2015, with its profit growing faster than its revenue, basing on the same number of headcount. Furthermore, the company increased its customer satisfaction and was awarded one of the best companies to work for in Asia in 2018. It also achieved fastest growth and was named the most profitable division across the company.

Dung possesses a great vision and has a keen eye for identifying areas of opportunity and improvement. Besides, he is particularly strong in strategy, operational planning and technical execution. He never shied away from making tough decisions himself, but he also delegated judiciously and trusted his leaders to do their jobs. Dung’s transparent operational style strengthened the trust between his leaders and him.

With a personal belief in the good side of people, Dung achieves great success in coaching and growing a strong leadership team wherever he is. He constantly challenges his people to be their best. The most important characteristic of Dung as an entrepreneur is his trustworthiness. His honesty and his ability to build trusting relationships forms the true recipe of the success of his company and team.

One of Dung’s interesting early career experiences was when his General Manager at Cisco requested him to relocate his family to Europe in order to turn around a troubled design center of optical equipment. He successfully brought an engineering team coming from an acquisition into a multinational worldwide reality. Prior to his Italy endeavor, in Silicon Valley, as an engineering leader and an entrepreneurial mindset, Dung and his team developed an innovative and customer-friendly chassis for the Cisco 2600 Series router, which went on to become the fastest Cisco product to reach a $1B run rate during that period.

Currently, Dung continues to reinvent Spartronic’s culture, vision, strategy, and its execution through developing and empowering his talents. His vision is for his division to be the most successful division in the Company, and his mission is to deliver the bestinterest for its stakeholders (the best place to work for employees, preferred business partners for suppliers and Customers, superior investment results for shareholders and good corporate citizen). According to Dung, the most rewarding aspects as an entrepreneur is to become a leader who is “Hard to Find, Difficult to Leave, and Impossible to Forget”. Under Dung’s leadership, his employee’s achieved high levels of loyalty and happiness, and his company had the lowest attrition rate in 2018. These results truly reflect the ability of Dung’s leadership to cultivate fantastic morale within Spartronics.
