Mr. Hien is known as a businessman who is “very enthusiastic” with Vietnamese football and he used to be the Chairman of T & T Football Club in Hanoi. Entrepreneur Do Quang Hien said that the working environment of the National Institute for Technology Research at the time was relatively good compared to many other administrative agencies; but, after all, the state of public institutions at the time was difficult and thus science could not be much invested. So, he decided to take a break from work for 8 hours to set up T & T Technology and Trading Co., Ltd and focused on electronics, refrigeration, electrical appliances, both office and telecommunications equipment’s.Thanks to the acumen and determination of T & T’s boss, they quickly built up their brand and prestige in the market. This is the premise for the famous electronic products of Japan such as Panasonic, Mitsubishi and choose T & T as an exclusive agent to supply products in the market of Vietnam.
The secret exists between the many strong competitors When T & T was established, the electronics and refrigeration business was “hot” and many businesses also dealt with electronic and refrigeration products, not to mention countless large stores occupying markets share in certain areas. The problem with the boss of T & T was how could they occupy one part of this market?
His expertise lies in solving problem in the most difficult situations, always knowing how to bring flames to wherever he will invest, but Mr. Do Quang Hien is still modest about his’s achievements.
“I studied physics, so I really like everything to keep abreast of reality. T & T’s biggest problem at the time was developing the market. I worked hard for months with my staffs and we resolved to make a difference. I always think, “the sale is not important, the important is that T & T must impress all customers” Mr. Do Quang Hien said. Not Stopping at the electronics business. Mr Do Quang Hien once again succeeded with investing in motorcycle production, even exporting to the African market.
Now, T & T has become a powerful corporation with four major investment fields: Real Estate, Finance, Industry and Sports. More importantly, the entrepreneurial endeavor of businessman Do Quang Hien has created jobs for thousands of workers.
In 2008, Do Quang Hien bought the majority of shares, then became Chairman of SHBank. At that time, there were quite a lot of Leaders of big companies who went to the bank to negotiate to buy shares (SHBank was then based in Can Tho), while Do Quang Hien was alone with a taxi, but won the sympathy from the high-level leaders of this bank. It is said that the reason he made it is because he was charming in the market.
Financial operations are always very risky, it is not the choice of many successful businesses in a different market like T & T. It is possible for many people in the age of forties, the safest choice is to be content with what they have, but Do Quang Hien is the opposite. He dashed into the thing that other people are afraid of as enthusiastic as when he was young. So far, SHB has chartered capital of nearly VND 12, 000 billion, total assets of more than VND 265,000 billion, more than 500 transaction points nationwide and in Laos and Cambodia, becoming the Top 5 private owned commercial banks in Vietnam. Doing Business is for the purpose of making profits, “but for me I feel happy not because of T & T’s or SHB’s profits, but because my efforts have more or less benefitted the society.
