Charoen Pokphand Food
Public Company Limited

Information about the Company
Charoen Pokphand Foods PLC (CPF) is more than just a name. It is a worldwide symbol of quality in the fully integrated agro-industrial landscape, with operations ranging from the production of animal feed to farming and food processing. Established in 1978, CPF is a testament to growth and international expansion, encompassing 17 countries and exporting to more than 40 nations while maintaining an unwavering commitment to ensuring international food security.

As a fully integrated Feed-to-Table conglomerate, CPF is uniquely positioned to control quality and assure traceability throughout the entire value chain, as well as provide globally-recognized, sustainable food. In 2017, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) ranked CPF as the fourth-largest food producer in the world, and in 2022, the company was included on the Forbes Global 2000 list of the world’s largest publicly traded corporations.

The vision of CPF is to be the “Sustainable Kitchen of the World”. Its mission is to vertically integrate agro-industrial and food enterprises by providing all of its products with the highest quality nutrition, taste, food safety, and traceability. This mission is guided by the “Three Benefits to Sustainability” principle, which states that every endeavor should have a positive impact on the countries in which the company operates, the local communities, and the company itself, thereby ensuring sustainable growth for all.

Corporate Culture & Company Activities
CPF prioritizes building a strong organizational culture by developing “Good and Smart people” who embody the six core values of the “CPF Way”. These values are (1) “Three Benefits to Sustainability”: The Country, the People, and the Company, (2) Speed and Quality, (3) Simplification, (4) Adaptability to Change, (5) Innovativeness, and (6) Integrity, Honesty, and Reciprocity.

The company has also improved employee engagement by instituting the “CPF@Heart” program, which consists of two ongoing initiatives: “CPF We Care” and “CPF Love & Share”. The purpose of these programs is to increase employee dedication to the organization and improve their work experience.

The company’s efforts to develop a well-rounded corporate culture have resulted in the formation of 18 CPF clubs that cater to a wide variety of employee interests. These organizations have hosted more than 150 specialized events and drawn in over 23,000 participants. Club categories range from Sports (such as football, badminton, and table tennis), to Recreational, (such as cuisine tasting and travel), to Well-being, (such as Warm Family Club and the LGBTQ+ Club). Through such entertaining and engaging activities, the company fosters trust and camaraderie among its employees, cultivating stronger relationships and establishing a more cohesive corporate community.
Achievements and Impact
As of 2022, the company’s global footprint increased to 855 offices, signifying expansion through the addition of five new locations in Thailand and seventeen international markets. During the same time frame, the team grew to 135,284 members, representing a 5% year-over-year increase. However, voluntary attrition rates increased slightly to 14% among white-collar employees (+2%) and 37% among blue-collar employees (+3%). Despite these obstacles, the company’s financial performance remained solid, with sales revenues increasing 20% year-over-year to reach THB 614 billion. In addition, the company’s overseas expansion proceeded apace, with the company maintaining consistent associations and forming joint ventures in the agro-industrial and food sectors of seventeen countries.

The highlight entrepreneurship program “Taokae” was implemented successfully and expeditiously across all business units, becoming an integral element of the organization’s transition to a more agile work model across all business units. In addition, the company is committed to nurturing a culture of lifelong learning, viewing it as fundamental to the growth and development of all employees and it is a pillar of its organizational culture. Employees are encouraged to use the “IMRU” learning platform for self-improvement and knowledge sharing. This strategy ensures that employees have the necessary skills, such as digital and STEM, to satisfy the ever-changing demands of the business.

Concurrently, the CP Ambassador program’s roster of internal Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) will increase from 300 in 2022 to 500 in 2025. The program has been instrumental in promoting and integrating CPF’s six Core Values into the company’s culture, thereby enhancing the organization’s overall strength and cohesion.

Future Direction
At each stage of its employees’ journey, CPF aligns its people strategies with the model of a high-performance organization. With a vision to expand its success beyond Thailand on a global scale, the company prioritizes the development of future-focused skills in its workforce. By integrating technology to enable quick, agile work processes and in-depth data analysis, the company can offer valuable insights for informed decision-making.
