Ms. Supaluck Umpujh is the Chairwoman at The Mall Group, one of the biggest retail operators in Thailand. Following the success of The Siam Paragon, she is currently striving to create host of revolutionary retail mega projects – The Em District which consists of The Emporium, The EmQuartier and The Emsphere, The Bangkok Mall and many more.

The entrepreneur earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from Mahidol University with First Class Honor, and a Masters in Pharmaceutical Engineering from Purdue University in the US.

Ms. Supaluck joined the Mall Group in 1982, starting her first retail work 37 years ago with three family members under supervision of her own father and founder of the Mall Group, the late Mr. Supachai Umpujh. Unfortunately, the first mall ‘The Mall Rachadamri’ was faced various obstacles and inexperienced in retail, it had to cease its operation after three years. Despite this failure, the entrepreneur viewed this experience as a learning opportunity and was steadfast in fulfilling her family’s dream of making The Mall Group a success story. According to Ms. Supaluck, “At that time we may be lacking of experience. But we learnt that in order to be successful, we need to create our project with an innovative and pioneering spirit, we need to create something that inspire people’s dream and we need a great team which are eager to win.

Throughout the late 80s and early 90s, The Mall Group under the supervision of Ms. Supaluck, opened a wide range of shopping malls including The Mall Ramkhamhaeng, Thapra, Ngamwongwan, Bang Kae, Bang Kapi, and Korat. In 1997, despite the Asian Financial Crisis, The Mall Group opened The Emporium - the First ever World Class Luxury Retail and Entertainment Complex in Thailand. In 2005, The Mall Group opened Siam Paragon - The World-Class Retail & Entertainment Phenomenon, “The Jewel of Asia” and has become the No.1 World Class Retail and Entertainment in Southeast Asia. Currently she is developing The EmDistrict; The Emporium, The EmQuartier and the Upcoming EmSphere - the Luxury & Lifestyle Retail and Entertainment District at the Epicenter of Sukhumvit.

Today, Ms. Supaluck is highly regarded for her many years of experiences and expertise in large-scale retail business and has contributed significantly to the success of The Mall Group. Her strong vision and impressive track record and gain her many international reputations, trust and confident from tenants and alliances worldwide. She is currently Chairwoman of The Mall Group, The Emporium Group and Siam Paragon Retail Co., Ltd. and she is Vice Chairwoman of Siam Paragon Development Co., Ltd.

Ms. Supaluck’s business acumen and experience has resulted her being recognised by various institutions and authorities throughout her career. In 2004, she was also honoured as the “Outstanding Businesswoman” by the Federation of Business, and Professional Women’s Association of Thailand; in 2005, she was honoured the “Mahidol University Outstanding Alumni Award” by Mahidol University; and in 2006 she was awarded for Leading Women Entrepreneurs of the World. In the recent years, she was named “The Iron Butterfly” of Thai retailing by Fortune magazine and the “Person of the Year” by Thailand Tatler magazine in 2015. She was also an Honorary Advisor to the Governor, Tourism Authority of Thailand, and worked as an Executive Committee Director of the Bangkok Fashion City project.

Future Plans
Ms. Supaluck has constantly emphasized on her mission to elevate Bangkok and Thailand to the leading retail and entertainment hub in Asia. Under her leadership, where The Mall Group has developed multiple world-class shopping and entertainment complexes, she is ready to lead her company to create new mega projects. This will lead the way to even greater success in what she sees as a bold and pioneering step into a new era for retail and entertainment experiences.

The Iconic Mega projects, The EmDistrict; The Emporium, The EmQuartier and THE EMSPHERE - the Extraordinary and Vibe that Bangkok has never experienced before which are scheduled to open in 2022. BANGKOK MALL - The Largest all in one Mega Retail and Entertainment in Thailand, built under the concept of The Grand Metropolis, a City within the City are scheduled to open in 2023 with 1 billion US dollars investment. Moreover, the Mall Group has partnering with AEG, the world’s leading sports and live entertainment company to develop Bangkok to be a Hub of Entertainment in Southeast Asia with the investment into World Class Entertainment State of the Art in Thailand with 300 million US dollars plus investment in two world-class arenas - “EM Live and BANGKOK ARENA” - that will anchor two new entertainment districts. EM LIVE at THE EMSPHERE will have a capacity of more than 6,000 people and The BANGKOK ARENA at the BANGKOK MALL will have a capacity of up to 16,000 people.
