Information about Entrepreneur
Yuan Jin Chuang Enterprise Co., Ltd. began with Yunlin duck farmers, and later transformed into Taiwan’s leading poultry processing brand.

Hailing from Yuanchang, "Yuan Jin Chuang" was founded by Mr. Wu Jin-Xing. The name "Yuan" is derived from Yuanchang, "Jin" from his own name, and "Chuang" represents a manor. Through hard work and determination, the company has grown to its current scale.

All employees, young and old, affectionately call the chairman of Yuan Jin Chuang "Big Brother," as he shows no signs of being an authoritative boss. Reflecting on the past, chairman Wu Cheng-Hsien smiled and said, "I almost had no childhood!"

Mr. Cheng-Hsien grew up on a duck farm as his father started raising ducks and hatching ducklings at an early age. His accumulated practical experience soon turned into expertise, and by junior high school, Mr. Wu Cheng-Hsien had already mastered the skill of identifying the sex of ducklings, becoming one of the few duckling identification specialists in the country. As a result, the Livestock Research Institute and related organizations frequently invited him to schools to instruct both students and teachers.

Mr. Wu Cheng-Hsien recalls that while attending classes during the day, all other work was scheduled at night. From his childhood until after completing military service, his days were spent either studying or working at the duck farm and hatchery. After graduating from high school, he drove to various duck farms across the region to sell ducklings and handle business, never having the chance to hang out with classmates or friends.

When he first ventured into the food processing business, the devastating 921 Earthquake struck and caused the entire nationwide catering market to shut down for six months, leaving him with products that couldn’t be sold. He shared that it took him a year or two to figure out the path forward. During this time, he diligently developed new products, creating a variety of processed chicken, duck, and goose products, while also exploring new distribution channels.

In 2004 and 2005, Taiwan experienced several food safety incidents, including the contamination of vegetarian products with animal meats, the use of restructured meat, and the processing of dead pigs. These events heightened government and consumer awareness of food safety and the government began promoting the institutionalization of food safety. At that time, he realized the importance of having certifications for processing plants and products.

In 2005, he led the industry by obtaining HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) certification, emphasizing a source management model, ensuring that every step of food production, from farm to table, was guaranteed.

Mr. Wu Cheng-Hsien noted that the government’s focus at the time was on aquaculture and group catering, with poultry not yet included in the regulations. However, to ensure consumers could eat with confidence, he resolutely decided to pursue various certifications and used the system to guide the factory onto the right track. The factory’s successful certification marked a new phase, with their products entering major retail chains like RT-Mart, PX Mart, and Taiwan Funcom Supermarket.

No one anticipated the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Initially, there were concerns about significant disruptions. However, as people stayed home, the "stay-at-home economy" surged, leading to changes in consumer behavior. Sales at convenience stores, supermarkets, and e-commerce platforms doubled, and the brand's name recognition significantly increased.

Other Interesting Facts about Entrepreneur
Mr. Wu Cheng-Hsien’s father treated the ducks as if they were his own children, insisting that only the healthiest ducks and geese be sold. Mr. Wu Cheng-Hsien has upheld this same principle as well.

A good product starts with control over the source of ingredients. According to, Mr. Wu Cheng-Hsien, the chicken and duck products from YJC come with an ID. To ensure consistent quality, they have implemented a traceability system, giving consumers confidence and peace of mind, and fostering trust in YJC for sustainable operations.

Company Achievements & Role as Entrepreneur
Mr. Wu Cheng-Hsien’s success story may sound easy, but gaining recognition from distribution channels was no small feat. At the time, Costco only had four stores in Taiwan and did not carry chicken or duck products, so Mr. Wu Cheng-Hsien took the initiative to promote his products to them. Costco was interested in his delicious products, but had strict requirements for packaging and processing. After passing these rigorous tests, YJC became a long-term partner with Costco.

Among hundreds of product lines, concentrated chicken essence stood out as the flagship product. Many people have consumed it without realizing that YJC is the largest OEM manufacturer in Taiwan.

In 2013, Mr. Wu Cheng-Hsien had a sudden inspiration. The cost of one chicken is over 100 NTD, but by commercializing chicken essence, traditionally made by collecting drops from a whole chicken, it could be sold in a more convenient form for consumers, increasing its value to 500 NTD. From that point, YJC became the pioneer in the intelligent production and commercialization of concentrated chicken essence.

During a food exhibition in 2013, YJC connected with a television station, and the partnership quickly elevated concentrated chicken essence to a popular health product. Today, there are dozens of brands with an annual production value exceeding 2 billion NTD, with more than 50% of the products being OEM manufactured by YJC.

In 2016, YJC invested over 100 million NTD to build a "closed poultry house" demonstration plant. The chickens live in facilities similar to human residences, made of bricks and cement, with separate systems for water and feed. The companny also introduced an automated biological detection system from Denmark. This system uses artificial intelligence and data analysis to monitor the chickens' living environment, carbon dioxide levels, water intake, feed consumption, physical activity, growth rates, and even estimates production capacity, allowing for efficient production line adjustments.

From breeding and feed formulation to slaughtering, processing, marketing, and shelving, YJC offers rapid and professional one-stop customized services according to customer needs. This, combined with the "bold" business philosophy of the three brothers, has allowed YJC to expand beyond Taiwan, marketing products to Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, and other regions.

Starting from duck meat and free-range chicken, and later expanding into the concentrated chicken essence and broiler chicken markets, Mr. Wu Cheng-Hsien has proven through his actions that "there is no ceiling on performance." In 2022, YJC successfully broke the 2 billion NTD revenue mark. The 30,000-square-meter base is now filled with densely packed factories. Excluding contract farmers, YJC raised 3.5 million free-range chickens in 2023, with plans to increase to 5 million in 2024, aiming for a revenue of 2.4 billion NTD.

Vision, Mission, & Future Plans
Having been born into poverty, Mr. Wu Cheng-Hsien deeply understands the hardships faced by rural children. With YJC on the path to going public and bringing in professional managers, he hopes to turn the company into a centennial enterprise. This is not for the sake of passing it on to the next generation, but to change the negative image of farmers as struggling and underpaid.

By passing on his experience to those who are committed, and through innovation and the implementation of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles, he aims to build a new technological agricultural community, creating more job opportunities.

YJC is committed to taking care of all groups, including employees, farmers, and disadvantaged communities. Mr. Wu Cheng-Hsien also promises a bright future for Yunlin youths who have left their hometowns. His company is dedicated to creating a good environment and welcomes young people to come back home and work hard together,

"Don't be afraid of difficulties; when you work hard and achieve success, everything is worth it," he said. He hopes that everyone can encourage themselves in this way.
