General Biologicals Corporation (GBC), founded in 1984, is a developer and manufacturer of diagnostics and pharmaceuticals. The company develops high-quality in-vitro diagnostics for doctors to make clinical decisions in the area of hepatitis, tumor markers, retrovirus, fertility, Thyroid, and Steroids. GBC provides clinical services including COVID-19 PCR tests through its clinical labs in Taiwan and the U.S.A.. In addition, GBC develops and manufactures a patented anti-bacterial peptide as a core ingredient for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and oral products.

GBC’s vision is to provide affordable, simple, effective diagnostic solutions for blood. Meanwhile, its mission is to be a world-class manufacturer and provider of diagnostics and healthcare. GBC’s corporate values comprise Integrity, Intellection, Integration, and Innovation.

Company Culture & Company Activities
GBC is headquartered in Hsin Chu Science Park—the heart of the most advanced high-tech hub in Taiwan. GBC has a flat organizational chart to shorten the reporting lead time in exchange for faster responses or reactions to the market. Every year, GBC has an annual team-building event where all company members and their families will spend 3 days and 2 nights away from the company. During the event, activities were created to practice inter/ intra communication skills, body language, and thought processes.

GBC has been giving back to society by donating COVID-19 antigen rapid tests during the pandemic when there was a shortage of testing kits. GBC has been partnering up with a non-profit organization that focuses on helping disabled children to help them to improve their communication skills.

GBC has been constantly reviewing ways to use recycled materials on the product packages as the company moves away from the paper format to save trees and protect the environment.
Achievements & Impact
GBC currently has 110 people worldwide including one R&D/ manufacturing site in Taiwan, one R&D/ clinical lab in the U.S., one in Canada, one sales marketing office in China, and two clinical labs in Taiwan. As of now, GBC is building a new site with 9 floors and 3 basement levels for a total of 46,200 meter square in Hsin Chu, Taiwan.

Internally, GBC continues looking for talents worldwide including hiring local country managers to oversee local talents and business. In addition, GBC has scheduled internal and external products and skills training for all its employees.

Externally, GBC develops and executes new product development yearly and expands sales channels including reviewing distributors’ performances and adding more distributors in new regions.

Future Direction
With the new R&D and Manufacturing building, GBC will focus on Precision Diagnostics which comprises Molecular Diagnostics, Immunoassay Diagnostic, AI System integration, Protein Drug Development, Immune Cell Culture Development Center, and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Development and Services
