If one were to ask the reason for Hiwin’s global success and achievement in such a short time, the Global Chairman & CEO, Eric Y. T. Chuo’s foresight and perseverance would be the answer. Chairman Eric Y. T. Chuo was born in a poor tenant farmer family in Hsinchu County, Taiwan. He was previously determined to become an accountant when he was young and he was entrusted by senior officer to reorganize San Shing Fastech Corp. from bankruptcy during his service at the bank. He stationed at this factory for one year to reorganise and reshape the factory and set up the first success case in banking industry saving enterprises and was awarded as the “Financial Manager of Excellence.” Moreover, he perceived the development potential of Taiwan industries and so he was determined to create his own business at the age of 43, which lead to the hardship and challenges in his entrepreneurship.

The banks was pessimistic about his startup and refused loans to him since they believed that he only knew about finance but nothing about mechanical techniques. Consequently he could only borrow from leasing company at a super-high interest rate of 18%. Without sufficient resources, it was not easy to compete and get business orders against the key components suppliers from Germany, Switzerland, Japan, United States, and England. Nonetheless he was courageous to defeat the barriers from the material supply, equipment and patent issues with developed countries through his unyielding perseverance as well as positive thinking and proactive actions. His career started as a banker, yet he overcome all difficulties and become founder and Chairman of a global enterprise, Hiwin. He is the Global Chairman of Hiwin Group now,a global leader company with one billion USD revenue.

Dr. Chuo was awarded with the first “Financial Personnel of Excellence” of Ministry of Finance (1976), the K.T. Lee Management Medal from Association of Management Science(2006), the National Invention and Creation Award - individual (2009), the National Distinguished Accomplishment Award (2012), Order of Brilliant Start with Grand Cordon from President of ROC,Taiwan (2016), ranked 8 among Taiwan Top 50 CEO (2018).

Dr. Chuo intends to lead Hiwin toward global No. 1 in motion control system and provide a better way of life and a better working environment for mankind. Hiwin becomes the world’s leading manufacturer of motion control and system technology and mechatronics integration products which they are able to offer value Hiwin added service to companies that wish to cooperate toward Industrie 4.0/smart manufacturing. In such a case they could enhance the competitiveness and increase the added value of Hiwin customers.

On the other hand, Hiwin continues to strengthen their footprint around the world, and in the future, they will have more factories and sales offices in Japan, Italy and even in India.
