Wendy Ho can truly say she has seen everything in the beauty and wellness business of “Mary Chia”, as she was involved since its humble beginnings. Better known as “Mary Chia Beauty & Slimming Specialist” today, Wendy’s mother and eponymous founder, Mary Chia, started by providing door-to-door facial treatments to her customers, taking Wendy along at the tender age of 10. Wendy was directly involved in preparing facial masks and other steps for her mother, speeding up the treatments as well as navigating addresses to each location, all the while juggling her studies in school. Such a schedule was exacting on a young girl, yet it was instrumental in forming her values today.
After seven years of house-based facials, the first “Mary Chia” beauty & slimming centre was established in 1989 at Goldhill Centre with four staff, including mother and daughter. The Company grew and was officially incorporated in 1994, with Wendy being appointed Managing Director of “Mary Chia Beauty & Slimming”. Under her direction, Wendy was strategic in leading the appointment of aspirational Asian film and TV stars to be its brand ambassadors. These ambassadors each have a true transformational story to share (post-pregnancy weight gain, long-term weight issues) and shared the brand’s signature persona of being approachable and friendly. At the same time, they imbued the concept of beauty and wellness with an aura of glamour and inspiration, drawing new customers and growing its base of loyal customers.
Wendy was awarded the prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year Award by Rotary-ASME in 2004 for her enterprising spirit and efforts. With her management, “Mary Chia” moved its sights abroad, expanding to Malaysia and opening in its capital of Kuala Lumpur in 2008.
Wendy was appointed Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) of Mary Chia Holdings Limited (the “Group”) in 2009 and still holds the position today. The Group, under her leadership, continued to reach new heights in the beauty and wellness industry by achieving a company listing on the SGX-ST Catalist Board on 11 August 2009. In that same year, she oversaw the successful introduction of a portfolio of new spa brands; “Huang Ah Ma The Oriental Spa Chamber” and “Masego The Safari Spa” in 2009 and 2010 respectively. As a complement to the services offered at its beauty and slimming centres, a revolutionary product line, “MU”, was birthed, consisting of nutritional dietary supplements, skincare and body care products to combat ageing and reverse its effects.
With a tenacious spirit sharpened from a young age, Wendy admirably balances the existing businesses along with new business developments. As competition in the beauty and wellness market deepened, the Group sought to diversify its business base further and to capitalise on a new, growing market sector in the beauty and wellness industry. Wendy was key in the creation of a Medical Aesthetic Clinic under the Group, “Scinn Medical Centre” in 2015. “Scinn Medical Centre” is the synthesis of bespoke medical aesthetics and beauty therapies, with minimally invasive approaches in treating various skin conditions. In the same year, Ms Ho drove the creation and launch of the product brand “Organica”; with it Wendy introduced a direct-selling business model and its revenue stream has been growing at a rate of around five-fold each year over the last three years. The “Organica” brand offers a range of nutrition and skincare products made from natural ingredients sourced from the best growing regions of the world.
Wendy holds a Confederation of International Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (CIBTAC) Diploma in Aesthetic Treatments – Credit and a Certificate from Singtrain Academy in Infant & Child massage/tuina, which is accredited by CIBTAC. Throughout her career, she has

With slightly over 300 employees today, the Group continues to grow its presence in Malaysia and has plans to expand into Taiwan, China, Indonesia and Thailand.
In 2019, Wendy spearheaded the rebranding exercise for “Mary Chia” as well as introduced a new medispa concept “Dr Scinn Aesthetics” to add to its suite of medical aesthetics services.
What keeps her going one may ask? When asked, Wendy responds, without hesitation, “My customers, my team and my passion!”.
