Mr. Wilas Chaloeysat is the Governor of the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), the state enterprise in the Energy Utility Group under the Ministry of Interior. Mr. Wilas is an experienced electrical engineer with a long experience in power distribution. He joined MEA after graduating from the Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon. His work spans from designing electrical systems for large clients to maintaining high-stability energy systems and managing businesses related to renewable energy.

His most prominent career achievement was the launch of ‘KEN (Key Energy Now) by MEA’, a related business that offers electrical systems services for a sustainable metropolis lifestyle, as well as launching ‘PLUG ME EV’, an innovation that controls smart EV Chargers for office buildings and condominiums to elevate the EV ecosystem in the metropolis.

Wilas has set the "Governor Way", which aims to create efficient and sustainable operations and deliver innovative, excellent services to customers. Mr. Wilas determined the operating guidelines of MEA, leading the organization with creativity, innovation, and technology, encompassing key operations across 5 dimensions.

These dimensions are the following: (1) Smart Energy System: Developing an electrical distribution system to support metropolitan lifestyles. This involves utilizing smart network technology and communication systems, enabling the efficient control of electrical systems in various conditions; (2) Digitalization Services: Improving service standards and transitioning the company to become a digital organization, offering modern service to exceed customer and stakeholder expectations; (3) Service Provider: Expanding MEA capabilities to create opportunities for innovation and sustainable growth; (4) Organization Development: Developing the Innovation Hub and creating future leaders to drive rapid development and keep up with technology; and (5) Information Technology: Implementing technology and information into the Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) and customer database management service system (CSS), as well as developing applications to improve operational efficiency and enhance competitiveness.

In following the aforementioned scopes, MEA has been recognized through several awards such as the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards 2024 (in the Corporate Governance and Corporate Sustainability Reporting categories), which reflects MEA’s commitment to sustainability.

MEA currently has 7,302 employees, assets worth THB 279,825 million, and earns THB 258,319 million in income.

Vision, Mission & Future Plans

Mr. Wilas derived the "Triple Go for Goal" policy: Go Smart, Go Digital, and Go Green which are aimed at transforming the electrical infrastructure while promoting sustainability.

To expound upon these areas, Go Smart focuses on enhancing the power distribution system's efficiency and structure to improve reliability, Go Digital aims to achieve service and customer management excellence by integrating digital technology into the service process, and Go Green focuses on building sustainability through stakeholder car and technological innovation, developing human capital to prepare for future business operations.

In addition, Mr. Wilas has set the MEA's roadmap to strengthen the company’s smart energy capability by 2025, to enhance the company’s smart utility by 2026-2027, and to transform the company into a sustainable energy utility organization by 2028-2037.

Through these initiatives, MEA demonstrates its commitment to serving the metropolis while advancing sustainable development goals and creating value through innovation and stakeholder management.
