Role of the Entrepreneur

Under Ong’s leadership, PCPPI closed 2020 and 2021 with gross profits of Php 5.20 billion and Php 6.30 billion, respectively. His leadership also focused on sound financial management which resulted to well-managed spending in 2020- 2021.

Ong also pushed for strategic investments such as the expansion of manufacturing lines in one of PCPPI’s sites in Luzon and Visayas that would contribute to efficiency and productivity, and respond to the growing business demands.

Despite the challenges posed by the global pandemic, Ong prioritized the safety and welfare of employees. At the height of the community lockdowns, he instructed the advance disbursement of employee compensation and additional financial support. Provisions for remote working, additional COVID-19 leave benefit and inclusion of COVID-19 medical coverage were also given to employees. His leadership continued to encourage engagement through creative and safe employee activities and participation in community services.

Ong transformed PCPPI into a forward-looking company. In his first two years of leadership, Ong brought meaningful change to the organization. He led PCPPI’s modernization initiatives through digitization and organization remodeling.

Seeing automation as the backbone of simplification, Ong led the completion of PCPPI’s Enterprise Management System to instill a data-driven culture. The automation of its time and attendance monitoring facilitated the adoption of remote working at the peak of the community lockdowns.

The company also ventured into e-commerce with the launch of its online selling platform, pepsiproducts.ph, and renewed its goto- market strategy, leveraging and improving the capabilities of its product distributors.
