Inspiring Identity
The lockdown as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic has hampered bank transactions. RCBC responded by launching the DiskarTech Lite platform ahead of the DiskarTech app’s launch to ease the transfer of cash to the public. The DiskarTech Lite app alone has disbursed at least Php 2 Billion (USD42 million) worth of government subsidies. RCBC also deployed handheld ATM Go mobile point-ofsale terminals which helped the government in disbursing financial aid to Filipinos at the height of the pandemic.Achievements and Impact
DiskarTech was launched in July 2020, and has already made a mark in the fintech industry when it achieved one million downloads in just one month. DiskarTech enabled RCBC to reach customers it would otherwise not be able to reach because of barriers such as minimum deposit requirements and branch locations. RCBC was able to quickly capture and grow a new base of users. Its exponential growth since its launch made DiskarTech the number 1 Breakout Finance App in the Philippines in 2020 based on the app analytics and app market data App Annie.Committed to reach its goal of serving the unbanked sector of the country, especially during the pandemic, DiskarTech partnered with various government agencies to help disburse cash assistance to the most affected individuals. This partnership resulted in RCBC disbursing Php12.43 billion (USD260 million) to 3.3 million Filipino households covering 16.6 million individuals.
RCBC also continues to partner with various private and government institutions to widen its services. DiskarTech has already expanded its cash in and cash out partners focusing on penetrating the poorest provinces in the country. ATM Mobile Go has also been deployed in 74 of 81 provinces nationwide.
Future Direction
RCBC currently services 85% of the 20 poorest provinces in the Philippines. While this is already a huge achievement, it still envisions itself to further widen its services covering all 81 provinces bringing digital banking to the underserved and unbanked sectors of the country.We continue to be committed to our mandate. RCBC also plans to create more programs for its employees to further improve and develop their current skill sets at a time when digital is already king. The company will also continue providing digital campaigns internally that will contribute to the improvement of the overall wellbeing of its employees who are mostly working remotely due to the
