Fontrip’s solution connects diversified ecosystem vendors, enabling travel agencies and tourist attractions to establish e-ticket systems and profit-sharing mechanisms. This enable tourist attractions and overseas channels to cooperate more easily and jointly develop exclusive tourism products through this platform.

Fontrip’s solutions provide three core functions — e-Ticketing SaaS, Dynamic packaging for diversified tourism products, and multichannel management. It is the first B2B2C/B2G2C multi-sided destination management platform which can provide resources management, supply chain management, e-ticket issuance and security write-off, online marketing tools, transaction, diversified payment, multiple smart end points integration, business intelligence analysis, mass-customisation tourism product planning, booking and reservation, personalised recommendation, map navigation, NFC and QR-Code write off mechanism.

Fontrip has adopted API Concatenation and Heterogeneous Data Analysis as its mid-term and long-term growth strategy. Through the open API and profit-sharing model, more innovative services will be developed to support multi-revenue pipelines, partnership enhancement and easier access to different customer segments.

The tourism products co-created by Fontrip and partners include Taipei Fun Pass, Taiwan Museum Pass and Alishan Easy Go. Tourists can buy these products from many well-known OTAs or travel agencies, such as Klook, GetYourGuide, Ctrip, Changi Recommend, BeMyGuest, Traveloka, HanaTour, Lion Group and WAUG.

Inspiring Identity

Fontrip is a spin-off Company incubated by ITRI, Taiwan’s largest research institute. Fontrip’s vision is to be the most trusted provider of service solution and innovative products for the global destination tourism industry. The business idea started in 2011 with a government-funded Smart Living research project. The team used Sun Moon Lake as a Living Lab to verify innovative service and business models. At that time, in Taiwan, the FIT market was only 19%, compared to the current 85%.

The founder, Sandra Chiu, holds a major is Business Administration and has no science or technical background. She bravely set foot in the technology industry and founded Fontrip Technology to speed up the digital transformation of the tourism industry. Similar to the Blue Ocean Strategy, Fontrip developed a systematic process which broke through boundaries. Recently, Fontrip, Klook & Lion Group jointly launched a new SaaS brand, NEXT (New Economy of eXperience & Travel) to provide an efficient and flexible global distribution and trustworthy solution.

Achievements and Impact

Fontrip’s ecosystems include catering, accommodation, chain stores, gift shops, attractions, museums, travel agencies, transportation, electronic stored-value cards, mobile payment, crossborder sales channels, research institutes, 3-party service providers, local and central inter-departmental government resources integration. There are currently over 3,000 travel suppliers and over 2.5 million units of tourism products sold through this platform. Fontrip also provides a service, FonPay, which is an integrated gateway for multiple mobile payment, including Line Pay, WeChat Pay, Taiwan Pay, JKOPay and AliPay.

As a five-year start-up Company, Fontrip has won innovation-related awards, such as the APEC ESCI Gold Award, Business Start-up Award, SMEs Innovation Award, Chinese Public Welfare Golden Award, Honour Award of Golden Torch Award and Taiwan the largest corporation TOP5000.

Future Direction

Fontrips’ main strategies are cultivating localisation, expanding overseas markets with total solution export and using ICT to enable domain-driven service innovation. Fontrip will focus on user-centric sustainable business model design, domain-driven ICT capability and public-private resources integration.
