The Government Housing Bank (G H Bank) is a solely state-owned and specialized financial institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance, which oversees its operations and ensures compliance with financial regulations. It was established under the Government Housing Bank Act B.E. 2496 (1953) to provide credit-housing loans and deposit services.

The Bank operates its business under Royal Decrees, Ministerial Regulations, and other related notifications issued by the Bank of Thailand, the Ministry of Finance, and related organizations.

In 2023, G H Bank became the Best Housing and Sustainable Bank by focusing on sustainability in 4 dimensions, with its E2SG strategy covering all operational aspects, including Technology, Operation, and People. The aforementioned four dimensions are (1) Economic - a strong and sustainable organization; (2) Environment - products and services friendly to the environment; (3) Social - reducing social inequality and increasing access to housing for disadvantaged groups; (4) governance - good governance under careful supervision.

By the end of 2023, G H Bank had a 34.62% share of the new housing loan market, the highest in Thailand. The group of 18 commercial banks had a combined market share of 55.21% and others of 10.17%.
