Information about the Company and Brand

The idea of producing a thread design for screws was born in 2011. Over five years from prototype construction to tests with several universities and production, the new thread design “TENZ Stairs Thread Technology®” that can save 50% energy and power was finally carried out and patented.

In 2017, two companies were established, TENZ GmbH in Graz to focus on the European market and TENZ International Limited in Taipei for the global distribution of the innovative screws and creating brand awareness in the Asia Pacific Area and the US market.

Brand Elements

The TENZ® Low Energy Screw is the most award-winning screw in the world. The product has features and functions that meet market demand. Excellent performance, exquisite appearance and environmental protection design! It is smart, comfortable and safe to use, and meets the consideration of human factors engineering. It is the only screw in the world with AGR seal recommended by German doctors and therapists.

The key to the TENZ success is the approach to act completely out-ofthe- box. The important aspect is making the screw tangible. To this end, several “hands on” advertising materials have been developed such as the POS Display, a sales display that offers the possibility to test the screws in a replaceable wooden block in the shop; or the Peek Box, the multi-award-winning presentation packaging to give away at trade fairs and as a sample for customers. TENZ even created its own Augmented Reality App that can be downloaded on IOS or Android devices.

TENZ actively promotes product core values and brand characteristics and has established effective management of domestic and foreign sales channels. The TENZ Sales & Marketing team regularly collects information about competitive products in the market and studies customer satisfaction to improve product quality and customer service. TENZ strives to make the right things and make the things right.

The mission of TENZ is “Joining Wood” which means it’s about more than just a screw. It is about wood, a natural sustainable resource, joined to a construction by human beings. It is about optimising the performance of a screw to minimise energy consumption. It is about sharing a new technology to the world.

The motivation behind the brand is to sharpen people’s perception of the supposedly unimportant everyday utensils. Using the example of the screw, the goal is to show that all of us in the community can achieve global savings in energy consumption through the smallest changes.

Achievements and Impact

TENZ has patents and trademarks in more than 50 countries worldwide. TENZ introduced its technology first to the European market in 2017, with sales partners in Switzerland, Italy and Germany. Under its own TENZ® brand, the screws are sold in the premium segment. In the UK, TENZ is working alongside A. Perry to bring the technology to the British market. Both brands appearing together supports customer confidence in a new fastener product range. In Austria, the TENZ team has taken the distribution into its own hands since 2020. The screws can now be ordered at any time in the TENZ online shop.

In the US market, TENZ took a different approach, based on the concept of many dealers and manufacturers operating their own screw brands. Those own brands can be upgraded through an ingredient brand cooperation, which is how TENZ introduced its values and advantages to the market through an existing product. In 2019, The Home Depot – the world’s largest DIY chain – decided to equip its own decking screws with TENZ Stairs Thread Technology®, which is now available in 2,200 DIY stores in all federal states of the USA. This new decking screw range has become extremely popular and received a lot of positive feedback from end users.

Future Direction

TENZ International Limited was founded under the management of Spencer Wang for the global distribution of the innovative wood building screw. As an experienced Managing Director for big name companies like Philip Morris USA and SCA Sweden, Wang set about establishing marketing and sales in Asia. Now he is responsible for creating brand awareness for TENZ® products in the entire Asia- Pacific region. Needless to say, the granting of licences for the production of the innovative screw is a vital and closely controlled task for TENZ International Limited.

In Asia, the firm has built valuable contacts with screw and tool manufacturers, with cooperation based on support and precise auditing to achieve the best possible efficiency and quality of the production of the screws. Globally, the TENZ team is very active - with cooperation discussions in territories like Japan, Australia and New Zealand, TENZ is growing its global presence still further.
