Company Introduction
Electronics & Engineering or E&E was founded by Mr. Goh Kiok Chuan with his two close friends in January 1951. Throughout its seven decades of operations, the Company has lived by his principles - hard work, diligence, perseverance and their motto “To get it right the First Time”- to maintain its position as the foremost supplier of professional audio-visual solutions. In the early years, the Company tapped on the popular trend of the time - radio and cinema - and began importing portable electronics tube radios, radio parts and WISI antennas from Germany. With the rise of the cinema industry in the in the late 50s, Mr. Goh decided to focus the business on cinematographic equipment. His two partners having no interest in the cinema business, bought themselves out and Mr. Goh became the sole proprietor of the Company.
In 1959, the Company then secured its first product agency and took on the sole distributorship for National Carbon which manufacture carbon rods for the light source in the cinema industry. E&E continued to build a name for itself as a specialist in refurbishing cinema projection equipment and a main supplier for local and regional cinemas.
In the early 60s, Mr. Goh’s son, Ronald graduated with an Engineering degree from the Singapore Polytechnic and joined the Company. However, Ronald found the cinema ‘cookie cutter’ installation business boring and chose to go into professional sound reinforcement systems, an area that he found more challenging. In the early 60s, Ronald installed Gino’s A-Go-Go in Tanglin Road, the first Discotheque in Singapore. Thereafter, he installed the “Lost Horizon” Disco and Club at the Shangri La Hotel. The Company continued to supply and install numerous prestigious sound system installations including our National Stadium, National Theatre, Victoria Theatre and numerous venues in the Singapore Sports Hub, and similar projects all over the region for the last 50 years.
In 2010, the Company secured the iconic Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort, Singapore project. E&E was responsible for all the Audio Visual and MATV systems, as well as the supply and installation of 7,000 ceiling and wall-mounted speakers for background music and sound reinforcement systems. The Company was also in charge of providing and installing sound reinforcement systems for the 2,000-seater Grand Theatre and 1,600-seater Sands Performing Arts Theatre.
E&E Group of Companies has also strengthened their infrastructure by opening a new double storey 3,000 sq. meter Warehouse & Logistics Centre in Tuas; an Experience Centre (ENEXC) near the office, and a new business unit, E&E Services Pte Ltd in the nearby Tan Boon Liat Building which focuses on the areas of AV Service & Maintenance; as well as expanded its satellite offices with the acquisition of new premises and with the expansion of its teams both in Malaysia and Indonesia.
