PhilJets has been established in 2013 as a boutique business aviation company with the aim to uplift the image of aviation and tourism in the Philippines.

PhilJets engages into Aircraft Management Services, Air Charter Transport including Tourism Flights, VIP and Corporate Executives Air Transport as well as Aircraft Maintenance Services, Aircraft Financing Solutions, and Training Solutions.

The popular destinations are Tagaytay, Mount Pinatubo, Corregidor, Punta Fuego, Isabella, Balesin or Boracay. The Manila City Transfers is also a high demand service of PhilJets.

In the last 5 years, PhilJets has evolved from an aviation startup to become a leading business aviation company sustaining close to 100% growth year on year for the last 3 years.

The company that operates both Helicopters and Business Jets, now counts 11 aircrafts in its fleet, including seven Airbus Helicopters (six H130, one H145), one Bell Helicopter, one Bombardier Challenger 350 business jet and two Cessna Citation XLS+ business jets. The assets under management in 2017 amount to more than PhP 3.8 Billion (USD 75M), equivalent to four times increase from 2016.

From 1 to 30 customers on the Aircraft Management activity, the company has grown a niche market on the high-end segment.

It has grown its Air Tourism flights for the benefits of local and foreign passengers that represent 25% of its revenues.

PhilJets flew 2,563 hours in 2016, which is was more than the 1498 hours of 2015. The number of passengers also increased in 2016 to reach 2,122 from 1,513 passengers transported in 2015. The company also completed 656 flights in 2016 from 453 in 2015. The Executives and Corporate Transport segment has contributed to more business investments and transactions in the Philippines. PhilJets is a business enabler vehicle for both local and foreign corporations. 50% of the flights operated by PhilJets are for Business Executives, while 20% are for Tourism or Leisure flights.

The company founders, include Ms Willyn Villarica, Attorney Millicent Asuncion, Florian Pacquelin and Ms Matea Delen, an experienced industrious aviation executive who was the Manager of Zenith Air Inc, a charter company engaged in Aerial Works (thereafter acquired by PhilJets and rebranded as PhilJets Aero Charter Corp), and Thierry Tea, Cambodian French of Chinese descent, formerly President & CEO of Airbus Helicopters Philippines and Head of Airbus Group in the Philippines who founded the Singapore based Investment Holding Starline Global Industries Pte Ltd, today parent company of PhilJets Aero Services Inc.

They have structured a solid team composed of experienced aviation experts mixed with young dynamic and ambitious professionals. The company counts in its team, experienced aviation professionals, including Filipino pilots and Technicians who served both in the Philippine Air Force and who worked overseas for the demanding Oil & Gas sector or for VIP and Tourism flights in neighboring Asian countries. The team also include experienced professionals from manufacturers such as Safran Helicopter Engines, or Airbus Helicopters. Thierry’s younger brother, Alexandre Tea who has been with Bolloré Logistics in the Philippines, then in Myanmar also joined PhilJets team as the Chief Financial Officer of the company.

With 55 high skilled employees, the young dynamic fast-growing company is geared towards the development of the next 5 years, looking into opening bases in Davao, Cebu and Palawan as well as expanding in Education, Logistics and Tourism.

The Founder

Thierry Tea, Cambodian-French, was born in Paris on 22 April 1981. His father’s family was a prominent family in the 1960s in Cambodia, involved in starch and flour processing. His mother’s family was a leading bicycle manufacturer in Cambodia. They both had the chance to fly to Paris, in order to study foreign languages. When the civil war started, both families lost everything, including their lives. His mother had to clean apartments while his father had to clean dishes in restaurants or drive taxi before they both joined the Mutuelle Generale as employees.

Thierry always wanted to be an entrepreneur but wanted to prove to himself and his family that he could succeed in a Multinational Company. He borrowed money to pay for Bachelor Degree of Negocia business school where he seized the opportunity of exchange programs first in Philadelphia then in Singapore. He then completed his Master Degree at Inseec Paris. During the school summer holidays Thierry took several jobs to save money in order to pay for his internships in Hong Kong then in Shanghai.

Corporate Career at Airbus Group

Thierry joined Airbus Helicopter as a young intern. He was hired in January 2004 and joined the Singapore regional hub Airbus Southeast Asia in October the same year. His first helicopter sale in March 2005 at 23 years old propelled him to close 16 more sales in the next 2 years and became President & CEO of Airbus Helicopters Philippines in 2007. He was appointed Country Head for Airbus Group in 2009 overseeing the Defense, Space, Helicopters and Commercial Aircrafts divisions. After having been involved in 80 commercial planes for over USD 8 Billion and 50 helicopters for over USD 300 Million, Thierry decided to leave Airbus to achieve his dream of establishing his own venture. He received in 2011, the People of the Year award from People Asia Magazine, for his support to the relief operations succeeding the Ondoy Typhoon.

Entrepreneurial Spirit

Starline Global Industries, was created in late 2012 in Singapore. Concurrently to growing PhilJets, Starline Global Industries has established Negocia Ventures in Cambodia, which has been investing in Agriculture (Mangoes, Vanilla), Real Estate (Property Management company), Food Processing (Cashew Nuts), Tech Startups (Digital Portal for Property Rentals), Human Resource Services and Luxury Retail. He is also a shareholder and board member of a boutique Merger & Acquisition firm in Hong Kong, Index Asia. Over the last five years, Thierry has evolved from a corporate senior executive to become an entrepreneur, an investor who is seed funding projects in emerging markets and mentor to younger entrepreneurs.
