YBhg Tan Sri Rozali Ismail is the founder of PNSB Water Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn Bhd) (“PNSB”), the Executive Chairman of Puncak Niaga Holdings Berhad (“PNHB”) Group and major shareholder of PNHB. He was appointed to the Board of PNHB on 24 April 1997. He is the Chairman of PNHB’s Executive Committee (“EXCO”) and Executive Vice Chairman of PNHB’s Oil & Gas Division.
Having graduated from Universiti of Malaya with a Bachelor of Law Degree in 1981, YBhg Tan Sri Rozali Ismail began his career as legal advisor with the Urban Development Authority before joining Bank Islam (M) Berhad in 1983, where he conceptualised the Malaysia’s first Islamic banking institution. In 1987, he began his own legal practice specialising in corporate, property and banking.
In 1989, YBhg Tan Sri Rozali embarked into the property development sector, with involvement in several development projects in the Klang Valley, Kuantan and Johor. Under the banner of Puncak Alam Housing Sdn Bhd, he developed a new township known as Bandar Baru Puncak Alam. Bandar Puncak Alam is an integrated self-sustainable township comprising approximately 14,000 acres of land area with a population of 50,000 located near Kuala Selangor, about 20 kilometers northwest of Shah Alam. Major amenities in Bandar Puncak Alam are UiTM Puncak Alam campus which was constructed by YBhg Tan Sri Rozali Ismail’s company, TRIplc Berhad (now owned by Puncak Niaga Group since May 2018) in 2009. Currently, TRIplc Medical Sdn Bhd is undertaking the design, development and construction of a teaching hospital for UiTM Puncak Alam which is slated for completion by the second quarter of 2020. Another major amenities of Bandar Puncak Alam is the 5,000 capacity Masjid Puncak Alam which was founded/completed by YBhg Tan Sri Rozali Ismail/Puncak Alam Housing Sdn Bhd in 2014 and Masjid Puncak Alam was officiated by D.Y.M.M Sultan Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Al-Haj on 10 July 2015.
YBhg Tan Sri Rozali Ismail has built up the brand name of Puncak Niaga since 1994 as a leading integrated water, wastewater and environmental solutions provider with involvement in concession and facilities management services, plantation and property development sectors.
Due to his vast experience in various fields, YBhg Tan Sri Rozali Ismail was entrusted by the Selangor State Government via Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn Bhd (PNSB), to manage the 29 water treatment plants for the whole of Selangor Darul Ehsan, the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya with a combined capacity of 1,956 million litres per day from 1994 to 2015. He also undertook the privatisation of the treated water supply distribution system under Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (SYABAS) with more than 2.01 million consumer accounts and serving a population of 7.5 million from 2005 to 2015.
The entrepreneur is famously known as “Malaysia’s Water King”, due to his innovative ideas and contributions in revitalising the Malaysia water industry where Puncak Niaga Group operated, managed and maintained the entire water distribution supply system for Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. Under his leadership, Puncak Niaga Group has grown into a reputable conglomerate with diversified businesses.
During YBhg Tan Sri Rozali Ismail’s management, SYABAS also undertook the maintenance of 27,479 km of water pipes, 1,561 service reservoirs, elevated water tanks and suction tanks and 632 booster pumping stations in the State of Selangor and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
With the sale of PNSB and SYABAS to Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd in October 2015, Puncak Niaga Group has since diversified into the oil palm plantation and facilities management services sector.
YBhg Tan Sri Rozali Ismail is recognised by his peers and industry observers locally and internationally. Throughout his illustrious career, he has received various honours bestowed upon him by His Majesty the King of Malaysia as well as honorary doctorates given to him by international institutions. In more recent years, these include “Munisaraphoin Medal” by the Prime Minister of Cambodia H.E Hun Sen in 2015, Certificate of World Business Leader and the Certificate of Excellence in Business Leadership from the World Confederation of Businesses (WORLDCOB) in 2015, World Leader Businessperson by WORLDCOB at The Bizz 2016 and 2017.
His leadership and entrepreneurial skills are admirably supplemented by his commitment to activities outside of his business empire, where he served on several social foundations and his role as President of non-profit organisations that champion public interests such as the management of water as a public resource. He is also a staunch advocate of entrepreneur development programmes and sustainable environment, where he contributes ideas and engages in corporate social responsibility programmes related to the environment.
YBhg Tan Sri Rozali Ismail is also a member of various influential governmental and non-governmental associations such as Malaysian Industry Government Group for High Technology, Malaysian Institute of Directors, Malaysian-British Business Council, Malaysia-Indonesia Business Council, Corporate Malaysia Roundtable and many more.
