Samantha Tai

CEO

Samantha is the Chief Executive Officer of Boardroom Corporate Services Sdn Bhd and has more than 25 years of extensive experience in the corporate industry.

Born and raised in the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Samantha graduated from the reputable Tunku Abdul Rahman College in the 1990s and embarked on her corporate secretarial career with Paramount Corporation Berhad. She has never looked back since and continued to grow her sphere, working with other firms to strengthen her forte before joining the BoardRoom family in 2005.

Being in an industry where company secretaries are traditionally seen as ‘minutes-takers’, Samantha has refuted the stereotype time and again by constantly offering insightful advice and guidance to corporate organisations on their business strategies, whilst complying to local regulations and guidelines.

Samantha’s passion for good corporate governance and transparency made her a much sought after thought leader for local regulatory bodies. She has contributed immensely in the development and improvement of regulatory laws in Malaysia.

A go-getter who is quick-thinking and resourceful, Samantha believes that life-long learning and having a ‘never say no’ attitude are the best guiding principles in life.

Despite managing her demanding work schedule, Samantha rarely compromises her weekend family time. To de-stress, she spends her weekends doing a variety of activities like hiking, cooking, baking and exercising with her husband and children.

Since joining BoardRoom in 2005, Samantha has grown the company by leaps and bound. Starting with a staff strength of less than 50, BoardRoom is now a family of more than 400 and still growing. Samantha has played a stellar role in expanding BoardRoom’s suite of services which started with corporate secretarial but now includes a wide range of corporate services including accounting & financial, regional payroll & HR, taxation & advisory, share registry and issuing house, amongst others.

In 2018, BoardRoom merged with Symphony House subsidiaries, making the Group the largest corporate services provider in the region. This would not have been possible without Samantha’s strong business acumen and astute decision-making abilities.

Samantha hopes to continuously drive strong corporate governance in organisations and wishes to see more women on corporate boards in the near future.

On her plans for BoardRoom, Samantha is working tirelessly to steer their offerings towards digitalisation. New products and services embracing technological innovations are regularly being introduced and will continuously be enhanced to meet the needs of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

BoardRoom’s latest initiative is a paperless project where the company aims to digitalise all their traditionally paper-heavy records. This project brings with it a whole new standard operating procedure for the business, one that will not only increase productivity and efficiency but also reduce BoardRoom’s carbon footprint.
