We are manufactures of wooden dining set and upholstery bed starting from raw material step to complete finished goods, which means, we handle whole transformation process. In this way of running all the parts by our own we can save up certain costs in certain parts resulted in minimizes the costing and lead to our ability to quote the most competitive pricing to our customer. We believed this would be the strengths for our company to survive and be outstanding in dining furniture and upholstery bed market. At the same time, strictly control and monitor every single process of the production is the aim of our company. This would help to minimize the unpredictable mistake and directly helped to maintain the best quality and indirectly maintain competitive price and best delivery date to our customer.

He started working at furniture industry field since he was 12 years old, he worked as part timer after school every day as well as spent most of his school holidays time in the factory. The purpose to work part time is to earn some pocket money during that time. Day-to-day, he continually work as a part timer at furniture factory until he finished his STPM study. After that, he joined the factory as full time worker as a ‘QC’ quality control staff and he found that he is very interested with furniture and realized his passion towards this industry. Thus, he started to have his own thinking that maybe he can try to start his own business and act as a boss where no one can control him but he will be able to guide others. He believed in his dreams and he believed it will definitely come true and his efforts will pay off.

Since he have made up his mind, he found 2 partners to start out their new business and they registered for their company, RIAN HENG WOODEN FURNITURE INDUSTRIES SDN. BHD. on February, year 2008, and he was 21 years old during that time. The first step is always difficult. “I undergo the very hard time when we just newly opened this factory, we have only around 10-15 workers with us and we worked as a subcontractor for others. We keep on growing after some time, and slowly increase more foreign workers. Also, we start working with domestic customers by supplying our dining set to local wholesalers at north Malaysia and also supply our products to some of the furniture agency for export market. This is the turning point that brings us to enter export market.”

During the year 2013, he decided that he wanted to try to expand his business globally and be the direct exporter for furniture business market and he can only increase the sales turnover by doing so. “I started spend the money to set up an office and showroom as well as build up a team. We are very lucky we gained the very good response from the beginning and we keep on increasing the sales rapidly every year. We have total 40+ local staffs and 500 foreign workers in our team updated until year 2018 now.”

“I always remind myself that ‘take precautions before it is too late’ no matter is when I want to make a decision, or to step forward in every investment that going to develop. We need to think far and expect all the circumstances that may happen then we prepare for the solution first. In addition, the most importantly is we must keep calm”, and in term of mentally we must always have ‘positive’ mindset to overcome and solve all the problems.”

They started to increase rapidly, “our sales turnover since 2013 until 2018. Moreover, our staff increased from 5 persons to 40 persons of local staff, and foreign worker from 15 persons to 500 persons. I felt very happy, thankful and I do appreciate that most of the staff still working with us since they joined us from year 2013 until now. In other words, we have less employee turnover and we keep on employ more new employees in order to increase our productivity.”

“I keep telling myself to “work hard” since started my business on year 2008, and I keep on learning from mistake and gaining experience to make myself “working smart” as this is the way that would help me to reach my goals one by one.”

“I always tell myself “never give up” when I facing some problem, and “never say no” to try something new because you do not know how much you will get when you take the first step. Besides, I trust that “no pain no gain”, and must be “appreciate” to all the team members & partners who working together with me.”

We aim to achieve our sales turnover to 80 million on year 2018 and I have set up a target that our company will be ‘listing company’ in coming next 10 years as this is my greatest dream too. At the same time, I hope that most of the company members can work and stay together with me from time to time and able to keep on growing up together.

Last but not least, as a summary, below are some facts of our company:-

On year 2008- 2012 – working as subcontractor, supply furniture for domestic customers and Agent Company.

On year 2013 – develop own export business, set-up office, internal server, website, management staff & team, showroom, uniform, register company logo, trademark, and slowly start to increase sales turnover.

On year 2014 – set up finishing factory, expand office & showroom, establish company corporate image, joined Malaysia International Furniture Fair (MIFF).

Increasing of the local staff and foreign workers, invest more advanced machinery to increase the production capacity. Sales turnover start increasingly rapidly.

On year 2015 – expanding the factory machinery and stock level, attended the oversea furniture fair, continually increasing the company sales turnover.

On year 2016 – expanding the business and invest property for expansion of upholstery bed factory, warehouse & showroom.

On year 2017 – keep on reaching target sales turnover and increase production productivity.

“Lastly, I believed that ‘work hard and work smart’, don’t try to skip every single step, there is no fastest way to reach. Never give up, and success will eventually come to you.”
