The co-founder of Jin Ye Ye Sdn Bhd, Mr. Alan Tan Kim Chai was born in a big family and enjoyed being in the cheerful atmosphere during every Chinese New Year, so much joy and happiness in every gatherings and reunion sessions. The warmth of Chinese New Year helped mould the destiny of Mr. Alan and his brother to embark on an entrepreneurship journey in the hamper and gift industry. He began his entrepreneurship journey with his brother after graduated from Victoria University of Wellington.

As a matter of fact, Mr. Alan’s father has passed away in the early stage of this journey. Due to his father’s businessman background, Mr. Alan and his brother absorbed a lot of business knowledge, skills and experiences. By exposing to the considerable influence from their father, they were fortunate enough to skip some tough paths in the beginning stage. Mr. Alan’s mother is a housewife, she has given countless encouragement and support to the brothers throughout the whole journey of developing the brand, Jin Ye Ye.

Jin Ye Ye Sdn Bhd was established in Batu Pahat, Johor, Malaysia, since 2012. Jin Ye Ye at first started as a seasonal cookies retailer. In the growing process, with the sheer effort and determination, Mr. Alan and his brother have successfully introduced the brand “金爷爷” (Jin Ye Ye) to the market. The brand name was originated from the Chinese character ‘God of Wealth’ (财神爷), who is believed to be able to bring luck and prosperity to people.

Everything was difficult at first, but the challenges have contributed to the growth of company and led to today’s Jin Ye Ye’s success. Undoubtedly, the main motivation to keep them persistent in this whole journey was the fact that there was some unsolved problems and shortcoming existed in the gift industry which include lack of choices, overprice and limited categories of product. This is what motivates Mr. Alan to take the quality of hamper to the next level.

By unveiling the inadequacy and deficiency of hampers in the market, Mr. Alan and the team channelled their focus to be the innovation and creative dominant player in the industry. Thus, Jin Ye Ye made great effort to break through the stereotyping traditional hampers by launching extraordinary products that stand out in the market.

For Jin Ye Ye, gift-giving is something creative but not dull. The break-through effort leads to various styles of hampers in terms of design packaging, material used and different categories of products.

In order to reach out to mass audience, Jin Ye Ye is honoured to have the “national asset” of Malaysia -Datuk Lai Meng, to be the brand ambassador in a series of commercial on broadcasting station.

The impact of Datuk Lai Meng has successfully enhanced the brand image of Jin Ye Ye among the Malaysian Chinese. Jin Ye Ye has worked in collaboration with influential Malaysia Celebrities, bloggers and influencers in order to advocate the spirit of Jin Ye Ye to the customers and reach out to younger target audience.

Despite the busy schedule and overwhelming workloads, Mr. Alan still take corporate responsibility as an important element in Jin Ye Ye. He strongly believes that education is the hope to grow a better society in the future, so Jin Ye Ye takes part in meaningful fund-raising event from time to time. Besides, Jin Ye Ye also made effort to take part in some online campaigns on social media platforms to mainly cultivate the culture of gratitude and mutual respect in the society.

The mission of Jin Ye Ye is to challenge the status quo of hamper and gift industry every year by upholding creativity in designing hamper and gift, and to become the market leader in Malaysia’s gift-giving industry. The vision of Jin Ye Ye is to cultivate the Chinese culture through gift-giving practice which expresses one’s gratitude and appreciation to their family and loved ones during festive season.

“Good heart leads to good fortune”, is the core business philosophy of Jin Ye Ye, because Jin Ye Ye always believes that good fortune and blessing always originate from a kind heart. Thus, Jin Ye Ye has always been holding this belief firmly, with an aim to encourage everyone especially today’s younger generation, to have a good heart, which in turn will lead to a more harmony society.

Every year, Jin Ye Ye sets up counters in approximately 50 shopping malls around Malaysia and managed to provide services to more than 100, 000 customers.

Through the professional marketing and servicing training, Jin Ye Ye has trained up around 500 undergraduate talents every year to provide the best customer experience to the clients. Jin Ye Ye believes that the efforts of educating today’s youngsters to be efficient and effective in the working industry eventually will help our society to grow in good form.

The main core resource of Jin Ye Ye today: young bloods. The average age of the company team is below 25 years old; Jin Ye Ye is making effort to assure that young talents would have more education and training opportunities in their career.

The effort included providing a series of personal development courses that assist the employees to learn and grow within the working environment. Jin Ye Ye takes employee training and education as one of the significant responsibilities in the company. “‘Good heart leads to good fortune’ is not something just literal meaning to everyone, but something that needs to be nurtured to the whole organization and a society as a whole.” said Mr. Alan.
