A journey through difficult and impossible platforms, achievements through failures and disappointments, breaking through the utmost challenges, Nilan Wickramasinghe has today pinnacled his carrier as a successful hotelier, a reputed DMC and notwithstanding an Executive Director in a government body.

He started his trail as an Accounts clerk in a motor garage in early 80s’ but his passion for the French language has pursued him throughout and diverted him into hospitality sector. His desire of aligning to hospitality sector was marked when he was rewarded one dollar note by a foreign traveler during his school days. This one dollar note made him determined to engage in tourism arena which he secures in his wallet even for today. His courage currently converted this one dollar into many dollars, euros and pounds to count into his revenue.

In 1983, during an era, the country was hit by the civil war, he waged himself into a war; a war of guiding the French travellers during their stay while safeguarding their security. He was licensed by the Tourist Board of Sri Lanka as a professional tourist guide lecturer in 1986. When the country was plunged under the devastation caused by the civil war, when his peers left the country with no hope of returning, he persevered promoting Sri Lanka as a tourist destination. Unabated, he served thousands of travelers during these three decades.

Obstacles continued. The country was again mourned over the death brought by tidal wave, Tsunami in December 2004 which was disastrous strike to tourist arrivals. The entire coastal line was erupted and the number of death could not be even estimated. Wickramasinghe was the only Sri Lankan who conveyed the accurate state of the country to France over Radio France in French. He was greatly recognized by millions of governmental and non - governmental donors who with his intermediary, helped with enormous donations; fiscal, medical and material.

In 1999, Nilan Wickramasinghe initiated his DMC named Lion Royal Tourisme with only two assistants. It aimed the foreign travellers looking for a reliable intermediary service provider to explore the country. With his tactical direction of operation, Lion Royal Tourisme has today pioneered the French and Japanese arrivals within intensely competitive market environment. Wickramasinghe is an active stakeholder with foreign travel agents beating traditional pragmatism.

In 2007, he created a hotel in the cultural triangle, Kassapa Lions Rock. A 3 star hotel equipped with most recent hotel facilities and amnesties. With its exceptional service and favourable location, the hotel is renowned in online accommodation booking engines such as Booking.com, Agoda and online guides, Trip Advisor. Latest addition of 20 rooms which makes the total number of 80 and the second pool along with improved and diversified comfort have sharpened an edge over its competitors.

In 2015, his span of hospitality sector was diversified with his hotel in west coast beach, Coco Royal Beach Resort. Nilan resolved in operating in the growing markets serving local and foreign clients to utmost satisfaction.
