Other Interesting Facts about Entrepreneur
Mr. Pham Viet Anh is characterized by his unthinkable thinking and undoable actions. He made an unprecedented decision to convert the deem-to-be-sunk Aframax into an FSO PVN Dai Hung Queen. He once majored in mechanical engineering. The fundamental knowledge in mechanicals together with managerial skills acquired through prior managerial roles had urged him to take such a bold decision. In the end, the project has turned out to be spectacularly successful, bringing stable profit to the Company and contributing to affirming its capability to run oil/gas projects.
Company Achievements & Role as Entrepreneur
Successfully overcoming the crisis, PVTrans has now become Vietnam’s leading sea shipping company, possessing a fleet of 38 vessels with a total capacity of over 1.1 million DWT. The Company has achieved impressive results with a sustainable growth of CAGR of 15% since 2012 and a healthy financial position with improved liquidity, solvency, and profitability.

PVTrans’s success is mainly attributed to the personal highlights of Mr. Pham Viet Anh. He has proactively studied and introduced many initiatives to boost efficiency and effectiveness in many aspects of operations.

Firstly, he initiated a comprehensive restructuring program related to the governance structure. Accordingly, the Company was decentralized and switched to the Holding company model, in which the parent company focused on formulating strategic planning and delegated authority with close control and supervision over its subsidiaries.

Secondly, with a strong business development orientation, he has been always eager to seek new business opportunities by actively leveraging his well-established network and approaching potential partners. PVTrans has gradually added new service lines, such as operation and maintenance services for FSO Dai Hung Queen, transshipment of imported coal to the domestic thermal power plants, etc.

Thirdly, with a proactive management style, he has directed a change in investment strategy to navigate the wildly fluctuating market cycles. Each subsidiary could focus on operating more than one specific vessel based on capabilities and performance.

Vision, Mission, & Future Plans
According to Mr. Pham Viet Anh, amidst an ever-changing world, PVTrans is required to work towards a vision of sustainable development, laying the foundation for a company with agility, flexibility, and responsiveness to uncertainties and changes. PVTrans aims to maintain its position as Vietnam’s multi-owned largest maritime transporter and offshore petroleum technical service provider with sustainable growth, qualified human resources, and competitiveness; to build and develop a prestigious brand in regional and global markets.

PVTrans’s mission is to optimize resources for sustainability; actively contribute to the development of Vietnam’s oil and gas industry and maritime transportation sector; maximize the interests of shareholders and customers, and ensure social responsibility to employees, the community, and wider society.

To realize this vision and mission, PVTrans continues to focus on core businesses, strengthen the domestic market and accelerate the expansion of the international market. The Company will follow an ongoing fleet rejuvenation plan to invest in younger and fuel-efficient vessels to conquer higher-end markets. PVTrans will also prioritize improving human resource quality via remuneration and benefits packages, continuous training, and development programs to cultivate a ready pool of next-gen leadership for its further growth in the future.
