Born and grew up in France, graduated with a major in Mechanical Engineering, then started his career as a Sales Assistant in Metz Decathlon store, Eastern France, Mr. Lionel Martial Adenot is now in his 31st year at Decathlon Group.

Since he was a child, he has been always driven by his heroes, the people who are doing good things around them, who do things with their heart & guts such as Muhamad Alo, Bruce Lee, and Commander Kieffer. Lionel is touched by Sportsmen and Soldiers who achieve great things.

His ambition is to dedicate himself to Decathlon by serving well Decathlon United, which is "to sustainably make the pleasure and benefits of sport accessible to the many". This mission takes a lot of sense in the country he is in charge of, Vietnam.

Besides Decathlon France, Mr. Adenot has relocated to serve four countries abroad (Taiwan, China, Singapore, and Vietnam currently). He was the creator of a passion brand and a component brand of Decathlon.

Lionel believes in humanity, hard-working, honesty, family, simplicity, kindness, power of the group, and defending a cause. Courage and resilience are also significantly important to him. He is not afraid of the challenge but he needs to be surrounded by loyal and fair people.

His biggest hobby is playing sports including Muay Thai, Yoga, and Fly fishing. He is also interested in photography and fashion.

Sharing about his success, the first thing is the achievement in human resources (sustainable "PEOPLE"). Decathlon Vietnam is now, known as one of the biggest sourcing offices in the sourcing industry, with above five hundred direct teammates, one hundred suppliers, and one hundred thousand indirect teammates. For the years he leads the company, the Vietnam teammate’s satisfaction has been always above the average of Decathlon Group, with the majority of the teammates saying they are having pleasure at work.

The outstanding results in sustainable development (sustainable "PLANET") of Decathlon Vietnam confirmed his priority in leading his team to responsible growth that benefits both people and the planet, acting within a regenerative economy. For example, in 2021, 100% of electricity consumed in stores of Decathlon Vietnam came from renewable sources, while it was 42% on production sites. Ecodesign products in Vietnam were above Decathlon global. Second-hand products are available on Decathlon's retail website. The company also commits to reaching Zero single-use plastic by 2026. In the first semester of 2022, there has been an amazing increase in biomass usage to replace coal which is double in 2021.

Mr. Adenot was the one who led the first retail store openings in Taiwan and also in Vietnam, where two sports mega stores were opened in the same year, which is a brave decision for an emerging market like Vietnam. After three years of joining the Vietnam retail market, Decathlon Vietnam now has five sports stores. Decathlon Vietnam is also the second biggest production country among Decathlon Global Production for years and is serving seventeen markets globally. This sustainable growth (sustainable "PROFIT") has helped the company go through challenges in the VUCA world.

His mission for the Vietnam project is to change lives through sport in Vietnam & elsewhere.
