Throughout its 26 years, OGAWA has certainly faced numerous challenges and reforms. From the beginning, OGAWA started with 1 store, 3 employees and only 5 products. It had no brand recognition then and wanted to open a store in a well-known shopping mall but was rejected. There were also product quality issues that caused OGAWA to incur huge losses. Even after gaining some recognition, OGAWA continued to face various issues such as plagiarism of products, talent training, development of its team and remote management with incomplete system settings.

The recent challenge is the digital revolution triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Movement Control Order (MCO) have changed consumer behavior. With a traditional brick and mortar set up physical store, certain existing brand structures and store models are no longer suitable for the current consumer needs. OGAWA must then develop a clear competitive strategy, make extensive use of social media to get closer to its customer base, plan new products, comprehensive reorganization and omni-channelization, as well as make breakthroughs and innovations in the transformation of ideas and concepts.

Achievements and Impact
Artificial intelligence (AI) is the popular cutting-edge technology of this moment. OGAWA also follows the trend of the times, with innovative massage technology research and development, it has created an AI massage robot – MASTER DRIVE AI 2.0 – for people who pursue a good quality of life. OGAWA AI Massage Robot is developing breakthroughs in technology by bringing AI to life. It now understands the type of massages required but most of all, it also understands the user’s needs better. It has been widely recognized.

In addition, OGAWA and Universiti Malaya have joined hands to establish a research center, in the hope to use this research project to gain a deeper understanding of how massage can improve humanhealth and thus further improve the development of OGAWA’s products. OGAWA recently held a press conference to release the fruitful results of this research to the public. The results of the study showed that its massage chair Master Drive AI 2.0 helped improve blood circulation by up to 81.32% as well as sleep quality and sleep efficiency by up to 88.73%.

The purpose of the cooperation with Universiti Malaya is to demonstrate through authoritative university research that OGAWA’s massage chairs are effective in bringing many health benefits and improving people’s health as well.
