Azam Motor is an automotive workshop that has been around since 1990. It is a wholly owned Bumiputera company. Azam Motor started the business in Banting, Selangor. The company is owned by Mispan Ribut and his wife, Mastinah Mohd. Sani. In 1993, the company changed to a partnership company. Initially it focused on car repair services but has since expanded to include engine and tire services.

Today, Azam Motor is known as a one-stop service center, providing repair services for heavy and light vehicles and supplying spare parts, towing services, managing Puspakom inspection and JPJ services, insurance claims, refurbishment, National Dual Training Center and vehicle rental and lorry supply. Azam Motor is well known in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.

Azam Motor’s vision is to be a multi-service automotive workshop company under one roof and a leader in the Asia Automotive Industry. The company’s mission is to be a one-stop center providing service with a smile, consistent in its work quality, develop a competent automotive workforce and strengthen collaboration in the automotive sector to drive the country’s economic sector. Innovative Corporate Culture & Initiatives
Azam Motor’s data has been recorded manually when it was established. However, after a few years, the company has upgraded to I-wokshop to facilitate vehicle workshop management. The management team can now enter job information to record daily work processes. It is also effective in monitoring and planning daily, monthly and annual analysis. Workshop Pro has the same function as I-workshop but it focuses on Government and Government Linked company data. Workshop Pro offers a fast and efficient way to manage the vehicle service center. Today, all manual work has been converted to digital including salary payment and scanning tools which are used to interface with diagnose and reprogram vehicle control modules.

Azam motor has collaborated with various parties such as Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad (PUNB), MAJLIS AMANAH RAKYAT (MARA), Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) and Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (JPK). This collaboration has helped improve the skills and knowledge of employees.
Achievements & Impact
Azam Motor has 3 branches around Selangor. In 2000, Azam Motor opened the branch in Salak Tinggi, Sepang with 6 employees and has now grown to 10 employees. The Sungai Petani branch in Kedah was opened in 2014 with 5 employees. In 2017, the company added another branch in Sungai Merab, Kajang. Azam Motor’s workforce has expanded from 20 employees when it was first established to 60 currently.

To improve productivity and upskill its employees, Azam Motor provides training such as Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia 1, 2 and 3, Skim Latihan Dual Nasional (SLDN) and Program PENJANA Kolej Pengajian Tinggi CAP. Today, Azam Motor has many expert mechanics that cover light and heavy vehicles. The company was awarded the Anugerah Gangsa Pengiktirafan Perusahaan Produktiviti Tinggi menggunakan Pekerja Tempatan from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry.

Azam also won several other awards such as the Women of Excellence Awards 2021/22, MS ISO 9001:2015 “QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM”, Anugerah Penghargaan 2 Bintang Emas Annual Productivity and innovation Conference and Exposition, APIC (MPC) and Anugerah Prestasi Terbaik (JENAMA PELBAGAI) 2010. With these accolades, Azam Motor has won the trust of many government and government-linked companies which has helped to increase sales and work quality.

Future Direction Azam Motor plans to open 5 branches in 2022/2023 around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor to cater to the demand from regular and GLC customers. The company also plans to set up a franchise (Nuha Azam Resource Sdn. Bhd.) and train 30 entrepreneurs. Moving forward, Azam Motor plans to open about 10 more branches before 2025/2026. With that, Azam Motor hopes to open an orphanage or a shelter for the homeless or a free school and to set up its own building – Wisma Azam. Azam Motor’s long-term plan is to set up five more branches and 10-20 franchises throughout Malaysia before 2030/2031 and to be listed in Bursa Malaysia.
