Miri Port Authority (MPA) is a Sarawak Statutory Body established in 1981 under the provision of the Port Authorities Ordinance (PAO) 1961 under the purview of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Port Development, Sarawak.

Moreover, the proposed deepening of the access channel and expansion of the main terminal facilities; the increase in cargo volume currently being handled would justify and speed up the proposed deepening of the access channel for better cargo coordination and consolidation also play important roles in the company’s sustainable growth strategy. The State Government had agreed in principle for the access channel to be deepened and had advised for MPA to contact relevant agencies for proposed project funding.
Other business expansions and diversification strategies of the company include extending its port’s limits, provision pilotage and other marine services to mariners, and studying the potential of setting up a logistic hub for oil and gas offshore activities. Additionally, the company has submitted an HR and Talent Development program to the Ministry in preparation for MPA’s business expansion requirements.

The expansion roadmap of Miri Port Authority and its succession plan(s) include a Short-Term Initiative (2022 – 2023), Medium-Term Initiative (2023 – 2025), and Long Term-Initiative (2026 – 2030).
