Mr.Chalerm Harnphanich, M.D., Ph.D. is the founder and CEO of Bangkok Chain Hospital PCL. (“BCH”). Mr.Chalerm is an entrepreneur and industry veteran with more than 32 years of private hospital business in Thailand. He is currently the President of Private Hospital Association of ASEAN and the former president of the Private Hospital Association of Thailand.
Mr.Chalerm is a Doctor of Medicine with the Board Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology from Mahidol University. He also holds a Master Degree in Business Administration and obtained an honorary degree of Ph.D. in Buddhist Studies and received executive certificates from prestigious organizations including Chulalongkorn University and Thai Institute of Directors Association.
As for his personal life, Mr.Chalerm was born on 29 January 1954 in a family that involves in trading, gas station, rice mill and real estate development business. He was married to Assistant Professor Somporn Harnphanich and has three children. Mr.Chalerm and his wife gave freedom to their children to choose their own educational preferences. The eldest daughter, Ms. Pornluck, M.D., chose to study Doctor of Medicine at Thammasart University, the top university in Thailand and she also studied Master in Healthcare and Wellness Management from Mahidol University. His second son, Mr.Kantaporn, chose to study MBA and BBA from Assumption University, Master in Healthcare and Wellness Management from Mahidol University and the youngest daughter, Mrs.Pornsuda, studied Master in Finance from University College Dublin and BBA from Thammasart University, Master in Healthcare and Wellness Management from Mahidol University also . The three children’s educational background well cover and are sufficient to pursue the succession plan from their parents. The qualities in his children were developed from Mr.Chalerm’s principle which is “Know your role and always do the best in your duty”.
As Mr.Chalerm’s family business backgrounds were in commerce, these paved the way for him to be an entrepreneur in healthcare business. Back in 1984, he saw the lack of supplies in the healthcare service in Bangkok and Bangkok Metropolitan in which the hospitals, at that time, were difficult to access and were lacking in standards and less qualified to carry on. As a result, it led to the idea of establishing the first hospital branch, Kasemrad Hospital Bangkae, to help people access to a hospital that offers better service quality with fair medical service fee with the consideration of ethical manner and loyalty to profession.

Fact on Achievements of the Company
Back to 1984, the first hospital branch was established under the name “Kasemrad Hospital Bangkae” located in Bangkae District, Bangkok, with the capacity of 500 beds to target middle income patients. A decade later, Kasemrad Hospital stepped into the expansion phase which started by the incorporation of BCH in 1993 where two more Kasemrad hospitals were added and formed the BCH group since then. In 2004, After BCH completed the expansion of six Kasemrad hospital branches, BCH then listed in SET with the initial registered capital of 150 MTHB and later increased to 2.5 billion.
Currently, BCH owns and operates eleven hospitals and two clinics under three hospital brands including Kasemrad Hospital, World Medical Hospital and Karunvej Hospital. Each brand targets different group of patient ranged from social security patient, middle income patient, high income patient and international patient. BCH currently employs more than 5,000 people with the annual turnover approximately THB 6,500 million. In the next three years BCH plans to open five more hospitals in Thailand and ASEAN.
