Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) has helped shape the real estate landscape in the Philippines. As one of the largest property developers in the country, its flourishing business has built massive lifestyle centers, grand hotels, sprawling residential communities, modern office spaces, carefully planned townships, and global standard industrial developments.
The real estate arm of its parent company, JG Summit Holdings, RLC had its initial public offering in 1989 whereupon it built one of the country’s most iconic malls, the Robinsons Galleria in Ortigas Center, a major business district in Metro Manila. The company steadily grew and expanded its business, as it set up borders in different parts of the country. Now, as one of the leading real estate companies in the Philippines, RLC has widened its portfolio to include office buildings, residential communities, hospitality properties, warehousing, and more. As a real estate developer, one of the major challenges it faces is how to consciously build spaces that are bigger than what they are. RLC does not simply create malls but makes spaces where local small and medium enterprises can thrive and flourish in. Its hotels have become hubs for the growing tourism industry while homeowners are provided with safe and engaging
communities for their families.
With its vision to be the driving force of the industry, RLC has developed properties across multiple markets in the straggling archipelago and has built meaningful and lasting relationships with its market, from shareholders and employees, to business partners
and customers. Having grown its business to the great heights it is today, RLC has challenged itself to not only enrich the physical landscape of the Philippines but also to inspire Filipinos to lead better lives.
To achieve this, the company starts by investing in its own employees, creating a culture of diversity and encouraging equal opportunity. Apart from providing important training and development, the company has provided a safe and stable work environment where they engage its people to connect with communities, whether through business or corporate social responsibility
programs. Investing in employees has helped the company grow into the business it is today.
With more than 2,000 employees under its wing, the company has built a total of 19 mixed-use developments, 52 lifestyle centers, 21 office developments, 20 hotels, 76 residential buildings and 38 housing subdivisions, spread across the country, and with future developments planned in the coming years. RLC has also expanded its business to China, with its Chengdu Ban Bian Jie highrise
residential project.

“Now, as one of the leading real estate companies in the Philippines, RLC has widened its portfolio to include office buildings, residential communities, hospitality properties, warehousing, and more. As a real estate developer, one of the major challenges it faces is how to consciously build spaces that are bigger than what they are. RLC does not simply create malls but makes spaces where local small and medium enterprises can thrive and flourish in. Its hotels have become hubs for the growing tourism industry while homeowners are provided with safe and engaging communities for their families. ”
In the Philippines, RLC has sold over 18,000 house and lots; over 21,000 condominium units; supported over 61,000 jobs at its commercial centers through the 9,656 tenants; and provided hotel rooms to approximately 600,000 per annum. 2018 has indeed been a banner year for RLC, as it booked revenues of P29.55 billion and a 40% growth in net income. In the year alone, the company opened 4 new provincial malls in Ormoc, Iloilo, Tuguegarao, and Valencia; 3 office buildings, namely Exxa Tower, Zeta Tower, and Cyberscape Gamma; opened its first warehouse facility in Sucat, Muntinlupa; and opened several hotels like Summit Hotel Tacloban, and Go Hotels Iligan, the biggest hotels in the provinces to date.
However, as big as the company has grown, RLC recognizes the impact it causes especially to the environment. RLC has been very conscious about building sustainably, from the moment it constructs a property to the day-to-day operations of all its properties. For
instance, the company has adopted green operations especially in its lifestyle centers and hotels. Solar panels are installed on rooftops of malls providing renewable source of energy to the property. The company has a total of about 16,100 kWp installed in 15 RLC projects, which is equivalent to approximately 370,000 trees planted and 14,300 tons of carbon dioxide avoided. Plans for more solar PV systems are also underway.
More recently, the hotels division has started removing the use of single-use plastics and providing paper less transactions in the newly opened Summit Hotel Greenhills, with more branches following suit. Sustainable practice is now the norm for RLC, especially with its upcoming projects. The company’s property portfolio continues to grow, with the completion of several projects, namely Robinsons Place La Union, Giga Tower in Bridgetowne West, Summit Hotel Naga and Go Hotels Naga, planned for the coming years.
Thus, RLC continues to provide more to Filipinos, not just malls or hotels, but a sense of a good and green future ahead.
