Mr. Pham Viet Anh’s most valuable footprint in PVTrans is navigating the Company to overcome the risk of bankcruptcy and make it Vietnam number 1 liquid shipping company. When Mr. Viet Anh joined PVTrans in 2010, PVTrans was facing many obstacles such as the high cost of maintaining the fleet, shipping crisis, parent company’s loss, employee lay-offs and risks of bankruptcy or being merged. He launched the comprehensive restructuring programme that includes improving corporate governance, managing corporate finance, retaining talents, expanding the market, optimising manufacturing activities, reducing costs and providing professional training to crew members and staffs. Moreover, he decided to operate crude oil tankers, oil product vessels and LPG carriers in Iran, the Middle East under harsh circumstances but higher freight rate (1.5 times higher than normal markets). After two years of extensive restructuring, PV Trans built up a solid foundation for sustainable development and started to generate steady revenues and profit.

Smart, decision and discipline are his main characteristics. Mr. Viet Anh led PVTrans to sustainable development with a fleet of 30 vessels and total deadweight of nearly 1.000.000 DWT. In 2018, Thank to his foresight, PVTrans invested seven vessels which resulted in an impressive revenue and profit. Compared to year 2007, PVTrans’s revenue reached VND 7,836 billion (16 times increase) and profits reached VND 975 billion (over 38 times increase), owners’ equity increased 7 times to VND 5,140 billion and total assets increased 6 times to VND 10,202 billion.

Under his leadership, PVTrans recorded a strong annual growth rate of 16%. Mr. Viet Anh also transformed PVTrans from a local transporter with just one crude oil tanker and around 100 employees into a leading shipping company in Vietnam with nine subsidiaries, two branches, two affiliates and over 1,700 employees. Today, PVTrans accounts for 100% market shares of domestic crude oil transportation, 100% market shares of domestic LPG transportation, 30% market shares of domestic petroleum/chemicals transportation; and has entered the coal transportation market.

Mr. Pham Viet Anh also places importance in employees’ welfare, in community and social activities. The Company provides equal opportunities for employees’ improvement and promotion. This is also the Company’s strategy of nurturing talents to be leaders and key personnel in PVTrans and its subsidiaries which makes up the unique nature of PVTrans.

Moving forward, Mr. Pham Viet Anh determines that the main objective of PVTrans is to tap opportunities to further its business and fleet capacity to maintain its domestic markets and ambitiously targeting 50% market share in the oil product/chemical and coal transportation in Vietnam. PVTrans will continue to focus on investing and upgrading its fleet, improving management, service quality and attracting capital from shareholders and foreign investors to strengthen its competitiveness in the domestic and international markets.
