Mr. K Shyam Prasad is the founding member of Vidya Herbs Pvt Ltd. He is a first-generation entrepreneur, who made a humble beginning, starting his career as a chemist in a pharmaceutical company in 1990 and then, quit his job after five years to get into the field of Natural Chemistry.
Mr. Prasad did his Masters in Natural Product Chemistry and wanted to apply the knowledge into business, thus began his journey of establishing a trading firm for the buying and selling of botanical extracts. In year 2001, he eventually ventured into manufacturing by setting up Vidya Herbs. He started a small manufacturing facility on a 10,000 sft land with a shed. With constant growth, today Vidya Herbs has become a reputed herbal extraction company in India employing over 600 people. Under Mr. Prasad’s leadership, Vidya Herbs has expanded its presence to advanced markets like the USA, Europe, Korea and Japan propelling the Company into the big leagues.
Today the company has three manufacturing units in Bangalore, India, spread over 200,000 sft of land area having its own supercritical extraction facility, solvent extraction facilities with well-equipped state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities backed by a very strong quality control team. Vidya Herbs has successfully completed USFDA site inspection for their herbal Extract manufacturing facility based out of Bangalore, India. The inspection confirmed the site to be compliant with the principles and guidelines of USFDA’s Quality System/Current Good Manufacturing Practices.
Vidya Herbs has decided to aggressively expand its operation with its new 16 acre oleoresin facility at Telagana, India to become a major player in this segment. The Company has also forayed in Probiotics with its latest technology Probiotic facility coming in Hassan Pharma zone, India which will help the company broaden its portfolio in the coming years.
Vidya Herbs has also started its Coffee Curing works in Chickmagalur, India and are proud to be listed among top 10 coffee bean exporters from India within 2 years of starting the facility. The Company is also expanded its coffee unit with state of art Instant Coffee Plant getting set up which will be operational in the coming months. Vidya Herbs marketing offices are located in the USA, Japan, Europe, Korea, and an overseas manufacturing facility in Japan, with a full extraction line with full-fledged quality control laboratories. The Company has also recently opened its new marketing office in London, Russia, Dubai and Mumbai for making concrete business development efforts to expand its customer base and penetrate into new markets. The new offices will also assist in achieving the set a target of Rs 1,000 crore in coming years.
