Dr. Yong-Fen Hsieh received her BS, MS, and Ph.D. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from Tsing-Hua University Taiwan. Her major interest in academic research was mainly focused on the metal contact formation on semiconductors, Si, Ge, and GaAs.
Dr. Hsieh commenced her career in 1994 as the department head of Materials Analysis, Failure Analysis, and Quality Assurance in the QRA division for the UMC, IC Wafer Foundry. After an inter-group companies transfer, she headed the Quality Management Division of Unipac Optoelectronic Corp., the first TFT-LCD Manufacturer in Taiwan, in 2000-2001.
With a wide knowledge base in various industries, Dr. Hsieh decided to contribute to the Taiwanese community by running a Third Party Lab in a commercial way. Thus, Materials Analysis Technology Inc. (MA-tek) was founded.

She strives to overcome adversity like when local competitors stole certain IP and trade secrets.
